Positive Education Festival quickly imposed itself in the front row of French best festivals for obscure electronic acts and djs, bringing together iconic international artists and a lot of talented locals, in the industrial town of Saint Etienne. To step even further, they recently launched their label ‘Worst Records’, celebrating today its 3rd release with Christian Coiffure, a quality codeine-EBM journey, strongly acid infused… Hell of a trip. There was a low end rumble as the music began to trickle downstairs and into the basement. Gathered in the cellar there was a small crowd, amidst the fog and dust they began to dance in time with the flurries of percussion and the twinge of electronics which echoed deep into the night. They would be here for a long time, a unit inspired by the deep, sophisticated roar of each element. Their feet would move in time, back and forth, again and again. 

Flippen Disks is a new record label to emerge from Amsterdam, the imprint is run by Monty who also appears on the debut EP. He delivers one solo track and one collaborative effort alongside PTDD for a release which is distinguished and intelligent. The EP features forward thinking percussion and danceable material whilst is also hugely listenable and unique. 

This one is special.

PREMIERE: PTDD & MONTY - Tamboe [Flippen Disks]

As the King Cobra uncoils from a woven basket and flares out its iconic hood, it appears to sway back and forth hypnotically as the snake charmer plays his flute. Timpani solos, a variety of percussion, syncopated rhythms and colorful harmonies are woven together to create an exotic tapestry of sound that will captivate young musicians and their audiences. Puma & The Dolphin releases their first EP and it is massive. Our pick up is a B1 track -  "Cobra Dance".
Taking a similar yet slightly different aproach to the post-punk sound of previous tracks, this tune features a catchy bassline and groovy percussion, alternating between vocal samples, melodic elements, and rhythmic phrases. Muy Muy’s third release continues exploring Mexico City’s incredibly deep pool of talent, with an EP of slow burning, melodic techno from a staple of the scene: Mijo. 
A frequent collaborator with Rodion, Rex the Dog, Bryan Kessler and Sascha Funke, to name a few, he has an impressive discography under his belt for such a young artist.
Coming from a traditional musical background, this solo EP is a departure from Mijo’s club tracks that he has become widely known for, offering a darker and more subtle approach from this multi-faceted artist. Another EP for the times, these slow burning tracks are heavy on textures and melancholic memories of the long after parties that sometimes stretched for days in the hectic, chaotic, yet eternally beautiful capital that Mexico City is.
Our choice was ’Batucada’ - collaboration with chilean artist Persona, almost 7 min techno thriller, excellent weapon for 4am mindblowing peak hour dropping.
