George Apergis is the founder of Modular Expansion Records & Εvents, since 1998. He began his musical career as a Hip-Hop DJ in the early 90s and later on developed to be a Techno DJ & Εvent Οrganizer. He is one the most respectful Greek DJs and still plays music only from vinyl, with a personal collection of more than 5.000 records. His personal sound is a mix of electronica music, based in Detroit – Berlin techno & tech-house, with a lot of 80s and 90s classic vinyls, all blended with Apergis’ unique mixture.

His vinyl releases “Quelle” and “Ekhowax” on his label Modular Expansion Records (with remixes from Johannes Volk, Zadig, Lee Holman, Truncate, NX1 and Birth Of Frequency) have gotten great support from worldwide artists like Juan Atkins, Laurent Garnier, Richie Hawtin, Josh Wink, Marcel Dettmann, Nina Kraviz, Chris Liebing, Jeroen Search, Dubfire, Damon Wild, Ben Sims, Mark Broom, Technasia, The Advent, Umek, DJ Hyperactive, Jack de Marseille, Slam, Stephan Bodzin, Space djz, Paul Brtschitsch, Tommy Four Seven, and many others.

George Apergis is also active in a side-project with his label partner Alex Retsis, and together they have released the tracks “The Pusher” with Axel Karakasis remix and “Minthe” with remixes by Dave Tarrida, Lee Holman and Dez with more to come. Apergis has also released several tracks on labels like Sabotage, Omega Audio, F2 Recordings, unGleich Berlin, In Fact records and has a collaboration with Christian Cambas at Bellboy & Audio Therapy records. He has also released 3 cd compilations with worldwide artists like Substance, Memory Foundation, Oliver Huntemann, Thomas Schumacher, Stephan Bodzin, Renato Cohen, Zoo Brazil, Beroshima, M.A.N.D.Y., John Tejada, Alter Ego, Isolee at Freeze mgzn.

George Apergis has produced remixes for Moving Thoughts on Psychose with Alex Retsis and for Avadon aka Yotam Avni on 001, both under Modular Expansion records, for T.I.M. on Introspection under Etichetta Nera, for Analog Trip with VGO on “Declaration Of Silence” under Elektrik Dreams Music, for VGO on “Robot Flense” under TDS records and De Vox on “Bring It Again” under Housevisions records.

He was also active as a member of the Athens Voice newspaper & Soul magazine and as a journalist he worked in several Greek  music magazines like Sound Maker, Oxy, Partysan, Freeze, Lemon, Fast Forward where he promotes Techno music in Greece.

He just started his personal series “Modular Expansion Podcast” at Cannibal Radio with guests a lot of label partners and big international names like Gez Varley from  LFO, Alex Bau, Echoplex, Oliver Kaap, Alexander Lukat, Robert Drewek, Matt Star, Regen, Scan Mode etc.

As an organizer and DJ he has played along side Carl Cox, Funk D Void, Alexander Kowalski, Adam Beyer, dj Rolando, dj Bone, Alan Oldham, Truncate, Darren Price, Pacou, Dj Pete – Substance, Vainqueur, Dave Tarrida, Sender Berlin, Chris Cowie etc.  He has performed shows in famous European clubs such as Legendary Tresor & Plak in Berlin, Moog and Macarena in Barcelona, Luzztro in Warsaw and Gorod, Neo, Open Kafe, Severnoe Depo, Atoll in Moscow and in the most prestigious clubs and festivals in Greece.

As part of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture’s 2024 program “All of Greece, One Culture”, Modular Expansion organized “Phygital”, an immersive event showcasing live audiovisual performances. These performances blended digital and physical-analog musical instruments, complemented by digital projection. The event took place at Rio Castle in collaboration with the Greek National Opera and the Archaeological Service.
The Phygital event is structured into three distinct live music performances of contemporary electronic music artists George Apergis and Alex Retsis, alongside simultaneous digital artwork projections by the artistic group DEN. This includes visual haikus, a collage of brief micro-compositions combining instrumental and synthetic forms, connected by a deconstructive and unpredictable storytelling.
In the first hour, the audience had the experience of a digital live music performance by Qebo (Alex Retsis), featuring a blend of electroacoustic and ambient music inspired by the architecture of the castle. The second hour highlights the EMEX project by George Apergis and Alex Retsis, blending physical-analog instruments with digital technology to offer a dynamic interplay between digital and analog sounds. The final hour was dedicated to an analog live performance where George Apergis will exclusively use vinyl records. With the financial support and under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture.

George Apergis is an established techno DJ, with a career of more than 20 years. He is also known as  EMEX and he is the founder of Modular Expansion records & Εvents. Since 2013, he curates the “Modular Expansion Podcast” series that features a premier list of international artists and received widespread recognition. 
George Apergis has releases and remixes in labels such us Made of Concrete, Bellboy, LCR, Paranoid Dancer, Omega Audio and many more. His releases “Quelle” - “Ekhowax” and “Waxtrax:“on Modular Expansion were highly successful and they have been supported from worldwide artists. In 2020 released “The Abduction of Europa EP” together with his long time friend Alexander Kowalski on Made of Concrete. His music has been remixed by international artists like Truncate, Zadig, Dave Tarrida, Johannes Volk, NX1, Lee Holman, to name but a few. 
EMEX aka George Apergis plays dj-sets only with vinyls and has performed already alongside artists such as The Advent, Drumcell, Monoloc, Truncate, Terence Fixmer, Ø [Phase], Shifted, Answer Code Request, Subjected, Brian Sanhaji, Distant Echoes, Psyk, Kevin De Vries, Ness and many more. He has performed in many clubs in Europe, such as the legendary Berghain, Sisyphos, Suicide Circus and Tresor in Berlin, Werkhaus in London, Moog and Macarena in Barcelona, Rashõmon and Städlin in Rome, clubs in Warsaw, Moscow and the most prestigious clubs & festivals in Greece.
In 2014 George Apergis creates EMEX; an emergent techno project which his signatures sound is an eminent mix of hard techno beats, minimal acid synth-lines and dub chords. EMEX has releases on Modular Expansion, Etruria Beat, Syxt, Denude, Credo, Demarcation and Konsequent. EMEX has released five vinyls on Modular Expansion. In 2015 released its debut vinyl powered by KORG, which entitled "00110001" and won the Silver Award at European Design Awards. Follow the releases of "Z80A", "Hyperion", "Zex" and "Mimas" on Modular Expansion. In 2019 did a bomb remix on Bastian Balders - Jukka on Konsequent records. . 
EMEX music has been remixed by artists like Alexander Kowalski, Brian Sanhaji, Subjected, Radial, SLV, Progression and Developer. Also, EMEX and George Apergis music has been supported by world-class artists such as Chris Liebing, Marcel Dettmann, Luke Slater, Tommy Four Seven, DVS1, Rødhåd, Jonas Kopp, Bas Mooy, The Advent, Ilario Alicante, Slam, Dax J, SNTS to name but a few.
