Until We Meet Again (Mix)

‘Mare’ is Christian Löffler’s second studio album and follows in a similar vein to his self-released debut, 2011’s ‘A Forest’. However a key difference is that while his first album was heavily sample-based, ‘Mare’ is much more organic, in which nearly every sound and every instrument is self-recorded.  Many of the album’s ideas are based on field-recordings taken from the surroundings.

A very new aspect in Christian’s work on this album is the use of vocals. While he used vocal samples for the first time in his collaboration with Ki-colleague and friend Steffen Kirchhoff on their Split EP for Ki Records, more complex vocal structures find their way into his music on „A Forest“. In the track „Eleven“ Christian works with Mohna, singer of Hamburg based band Me Succeeds, and uses her fragile voice throughout a whole track.

Like Water (feat. Mohna)
Originally the song was an improvised, acoustic piano piece I used to play at the live shows. It was born out of a happy accident while we were soundchecking for a concert and Mohna was improvising vocals to the piano. After we had played it a few times live I decided to record it. The song has changed completely from its initial acoustic version.

“Ry" is the most important song on Graal (Prologue) for me. It was the breakthrough after a phase without making music. This track made this album possible. After devoting myself to painting, "Ry" inspired me to create new music.
