2021 is shaping up to be the year of the Trax as Toolroom’s imprint label releases yet another huge club record, this time from newcomer Kristone with ‘Follow The Sign’. The Liverpool born and bred DJ and Producer has made his presence known, dropping his debut track ‘Follow The Sign’ just in time to be played out in clubs across the country.

Kristone first caught the attention of Toolroom boss Mark Knight during an A&R Lockdown session in 2020 with a huge sounding, professional demo submission. An on-the-spot signing which has led to Kristone receiving his debut release on Toolroom’s Trax imprint with the killer track ‘Follow The Sign’. The record is a Tech House number at its core, with Kristone’s love for electronica as well as 90’s and early noughties House Music having influenced the track massively, giving the record a Progressive Tech edge that runs throughout the track. 

‘Follow The Sign’ is an unadulterated peak time selection, with an airtight groove and a pumping bass line to suit. The questioning vocal line guides you through the track’s complexities, whilst the ‘Downpipe’ esque synth stabs tie it all together. It’s no reason why Kristone’s debut release is perfect for Toolroom Trax, reminiscent of dance-floor classics that still to this day leave a lasting impression on the #ToolroomFamily.

DFTD delivers a package of unmissable club heat from Red Eye and Ancient Deep’s collaborative project R.E.A.D. Already tearing up dancefloors since last summer, this anticipated release’s distinctive vocal hook caught the attention of Defected Radio Show host Rimarkable and became a staple in her club sets, before it was picked up by the label’s A&R team for a full release. This package features the hypnotic original and R.E.A.D.’s stripped back Get After It Mix, as well as remixes from Ocha Records boss CASAMENA and Italian club don Marco Faraone. While CASAMENA takes a classic house approach with joyous piano chords and an irresistible 4x4 groove, Marco Faraone goes tougher with powerful synth stabs and a fierce bass destined for peak time moments.

Frankfurt-born Emanuel Satie has made a name for himself based on his groovy, deep and sometimes funky signature sound.

‘Gold EP’ is no exception, with a soulful touch to top it off, the title track bounces with energy as it displays its old school charm through classic use of sampling and groove.

‘All The Lights’ continues with this theme while adding a bit more of a tech-house touch through a twisting bass line and hot percussion.

Wrapping it up, Emanuel brings us ‘100’, a brighter and even more tech-house-y track as the last. A great end to a fantastically upbeat dance-friendly EP.

Evren Ulusoy is a Turkish producer, DJ, radio host and record label owner based in Istanbul. He has released hundreds of tracks with some very respectable labels so far including a former #1 in the deep house chart on Beatport. This release follows up from last year's massive The Encounter EP. Great quality as you would expect from Evren. Caligula gets things going while Mr. Crowley is the second of the two originals. Mallorcan legend Frink brings the heat with his hot remix of Mr. Crowley, which rounds off the EP nicely.

Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading exponents of techno, both as a DJ and producer he is always bold and innovative. With his output in recent years it is hard to imagine a list of prolific producers without his name towards the top. He has been at the top of his game for over two decades with his trademark groovy techno.

Although Swedish by birth, Christian spent most of his childhood years in Frankfurt, Germany which no doubt played an unexpected role in determining his musical tastes from a young age. After spending time in the US studying, Christian moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil playing the best clubs in the city and surrounding regions, where he still loves to play today and continues to have a very big following.

In 1995 he started his label Tronic, since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna, Drunken Kong, Wehbba, Ramon Tapia, and more. The label has been the top selling techno label in the world according to Beatport, and is soon to celebrate its 500th release.
Tronic also has a weekly show which is now syndicated to over 100 stations worldwide, their 500th show was celebrated with special guest Carl Cox and now in 2022, they are already fast approaching the 600th episode.

Christian has dominated the charts and DJ’s playlists with a steady flow of releases on many high profile labels like Drumcode, Filth On Acid, Trick, Symbolism, Bedrock, and Tronic. His last EP on Tronic reached #1 spot on Beatport in both Techno and Electro in January of 2024. During the pandemic, Christian had a weekly Tronic Thursday stream which has reached over 10M people. On the remix front, Christian has recently reworked a track by UK hip hop superstar "Stormzy". His music is regularly featured on Spotify's biggest playlists and Christian is currently enjoying a big boost in his career.

Christian also ventured into his own branded night in Ibiza at mega club Eden. His first season on the Island in 2019 had 15 consecutive weeks of events and was a huge success. Christian was also invited to host Tronic events all over the world from Tokyo, Detroit, Los Angeles, and London amongst many others.
