Drinking to their tenth year in the game, Hive Audio enter 2022 with a celebratory compilation triptych featuring some of the finest names in the house and techno scenes. For this first salvo of incendiary wares bound to bring dance floors to a steady simmer, HA have gathered a stellar cast of big-guns and longtime affiliates including Seth Troxler, Anja Schneider, Steve Bug, Mathias Kaden, Gorge and Dario D'Attis. 

Anja Schneider's "Aperol Spritz" toasts first with a fuzzy mix of rolling 4x4 dynamics and sleek textured synth arpeggios. A paced-up number both lounge-ready yet lacking no oomph when a solid kickstart move is required, this one's better tasted on the rocks with a mini-umbrella in it. 

Old-school to the core, Dario D'Attis "Tanzstube" loops us in a turn-of-the-millennium filtered-house kind of headspace, replete with the soulful, sample-heavy hooks and end-to-end funky swagger bound to trigger some ravishing memories and create new ones amongst the dancers. 

A smashing, hard-shuffling workout hybridised with a Quadrant Dub type of distant lineage, Gorge's "Azami" goes for the epic-sized rather than the intimately acclimated. Primed for both hi-impact and long-distance use, this is gutsy stuff with enough stamina to withstand the most feverish of nights. 

Mathias Kaden's 303-boosted treat "Acid Trip" does exactly what's written on the tin, so expect a wild deluge of flickering new beat-informed rhythms, untamed drums and lysergic bass ellipses to keep you and your friends on the edge of mental sanity throughout.

Meanwhile, Seth Troxler's contribution "Crypto Slave" pulls out the sturdy bass leads and bouncy keyboard work for some fun roller-coaster action with something of a carefree, early 90s rave vibe to it. Ideal for gym-tonic sessions in your fav neon-coloured, form-hugging outfit. 

A most fitting manifesto of a tune, Steve Bug's overly suave "Let's Go" cuts a path of sense-awakening hedonism in the club with its battery of sizzling-hot bass, love-making-like churn and sensual pep talk oozing guilty pleasures ahead.

TOY TONICS continues with re-releasing the best tracks of GOMMA RECORDS. The German label that between 2001 and 2015 was one of the key imprints of the then so hyped indie dance, new wave funk and proto disco sound (along with James Murphy’s DFA, Trevor Jackson’s Output records and later Ed Banger records). The Y2K sound...that now starts to become in demand again.

Now here comes a 3nd compilation part with music by Dimitri from Paris, who also did several EPs on Gomma in the 2000s.
Also, legendary Belgian disco DJs The Glimmers are featured (they had one album on Gomma in 2008) and UK legend Justin Robertson aka The Deadstock 33’s and one of the first ever releases by Daniel Avery (also on Gomma back then). You find remixes by Nicky Siano (Studio 54 DJs legend) and Horse Meat Disco, who back then just started their party series and already were connected to Gomma records. There is an amazing Flamenco Disco track by Spanish producers Hugo Capablanca and T. Keeler that has been hammered by everybody from Optimo to Ivan Smagghe back then, and Italian music diggers The Barking Dogs together with now fashion designer Marcelo Burlon are featured with an amazingly catchy electro Pop track. Of course also Munk who was the founder of Gomma records is on the compilation.

Gomma not only was a record label, but was also a home for cutting edge design, wild T-shirt styles, underground exhibitions with new artists from the Berlin scene and crazy poster and fanzine design. Before the label was closed in 2015, the Gomma visuals world has been exposed in exhibitions around the world, one of them at Museum Haus der Kunst Munich.

Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading exponents of techno, both as a DJ and producer he is always bold and innovative. With his output in recent years it is hard to imagine a list of prolific producers without his name towards the top. He has been at the top of his game for over two decades with his trademark groovy techno.

Although Swedish by birth, Christian spent most of his childhood years in Frankfurt, Germany which no doubt played an unexpected role in determining his musical tastes from a young age. After spending time in the US studying, Christian moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil playing the best clubs in the city and surrounding regions, where he still loves to play today and continues to have a very big following.

In 1995 he started his label Tronic, since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna, Drunken Kong, Wehbba, Ramon Tapia, and more. The label has been the top selling techno label in the world according to Beatport, and is soon to celebrate its 500th release.
Tronic also has a weekly show which is now syndicated to over 100 stations worldwide, their 500th show was celebrated with special guest Carl Cox and now in 2022, they are already fast approaching the 600th episode.

Christian has dominated the charts and DJ’s playlists with a steady flow of releases on many high profile labels like Drumcode, Filth On Acid, Trick, Symbolism, Bedrock, and Tronic. His last EP on Tronic reached #1 spot on Beatport in both Techno and Electro in January of 2024. During the pandemic, Christian had a weekly Tronic Thursday stream which has reached over 10M people. On the remix front, Christian has recently reworked a track by UK hip hop superstar "Stormzy". His music is regularly featured on Spotify's biggest playlists and Christian is currently enjoying a big boost in his career.

Christian also ventured into his own branded night in Ibiza at mega club Eden. His first season on the Island in 2019 had 15 consecutive weeks of events and was a huge success. Christian was also invited to host Tronic events all over the world from Tokyo, Detroit, Los Angeles, and London amongst many others.
