@piganddan have been an institution of the international techno scene for over two decades. Two titans that have now joined us in our “Multiverse of Music” with 90 minutes of their vibrant signature sound for your listening pleasure!

The formation of Pig&Dan may have been an unusual one, but was no doubt fate. The two crossed paths on a flight to Mallorca back in 1999, when Dan was a resident DJ at Ministry of Sound and touring globally, and Igor was deep in the world of illegal underground raves whilst producing music under the name Tropic 39. By that stage the two had gone through a number of strong formative years surrounded by music.

Since then, Pig&Dan have achieved an amazing back-catalogue of releases on labels including Soma, Plus8, Terminal M, Diynamic, Bedrock and most recently Drumcode. Chart topping releases came in the form of ‘Growler’ and their landmark LP ‘Modular Baptism’ on their own label ELEVATE. And not forgetting their 2016 debut to Adam Beyer’s Drumcode with ‘Mexico’ and ‘Chemistry’ which sat at the No.1 Techno Track spot on Beatport for over 2 months, leading to signing 3 more EP’s with the label.

Pig&Dan are still all about the music, and always will be. Continuing to release quality music like their ‘Reset Your Bassline’ EP on Cocoon, ‘Infinity’ EP on Drumcode, or even remixing Deadmau5’s ‘gula (ov)’, whilst some are more personal like ‘Promised’ on Truesoul. It appears however that 2020 could be the most important and transformative year yet. Having launched a new live show last year in Fabric (UK), Warung (BR) and AIM Festival (CA) to name a few, Pig&Dan are ready to take over the music sphere with a two part release dropping on Drumcode in March. We expect to hear a lot more of Pig&Dan this year and are excited to see what further projects the duo will reveal.

Set Report AMFM 285

This week´s AMFM is the first hour of a 6h set that I played at Concrete, Paris on September 23rd 2016. The Concrete Club was on a Boat (barge) on the river Seine in the middle of beautiful Paris. The crew behind Concrete is one of the most wonderful bunch of promoters I have ever met and it showed in what they had created with this club. I always loved to play long sets there, I think my longest one was 10h (I think I might even released that set as another AMFM show). And I also always loved to open up the night, as it was in this case, hence the beginning of the set. You can hear in the background the people entering the club, directly aiming for the dance floor and ready for whatever there is to come. Talking about the audience, those at concrete were some of the most open minded and ready to party people I have encountered in my career. Sometimes a DJ would be playing Drum and Bass before you, sometimes House… anything good and the crowd had a good time, I loved that atmosphere. Also it always was very intimate, with a no picture policy, you as a DJ were basically standing right in front, smiling, dancing and laughing along with this amazingly diverse crowd. And all that essentially in the middle of Paris. I really miss this place and put it up there with cult clubs that have sadly closed their doors forever, like Output, Omen and so on. Concrete closed its doors for good end of July 2019 due to issues with the owner of the barge. It will be forever missed, but the crew behind Concrete is still busy and I am sure one day we will have a new amazing place created by them for us to party at. Until then, we have those memories… and recordings. Enjoy.

Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading exponents of techno, both as a DJ and producer he is always bold and innovative. With his output in recent years it is hard to imagine a list of prolific producers without his name towards the top. He has been at the top of his game for over two decades with his trademark groovy techno.

Although Swedish by birth, Christian spent most of his childhood years in Frankfurt, Germany which no doubt played an unexpected role in determining his musical tastes from a young age. After spending time in the US studying, Christian moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil playing the best clubs in the city and surrounding regions, where he still loves to play today and continues to have a very big following.

In 1995 he started his label Tronic, since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna, Drunken Kong, Wehbba, Ramon Tapia, and more. The label has been the top selling techno label in the world according to Beatport, and is soon to celebrate its 500th release.
Tronic also has a weekly show which is now syndicated to over 100 stations worldwide, their 500th show was celebrated with special guest Carl Cox and now in 2022, they are already fast approaching the 600th episode.

Christian has dominated the charts and DJ’s playlists with a steady flow of releases on many high profile labels like Drumcode, Filth On Acid, Trick, Symbolism, Bedrock, and Tronic. His last EP on Tronic reached #1 spot on Beatport in both Techno and Electro in January of 2024. During the pandemic, Christian had a weekly Tronic Thursday stream which has reached over 10M people. On the remix front, Christian has recently reworked a track by UK hip hop superstar "Stormzy". His music is regularly featured on Spotify's biggest playlists and Christian is currently enjoying a big boost in his career.

Christian also ventured into his own branded night in Ibiza at mega club Eden. His first season on the Island in 2019 had 15 consecutive weeks of events and was a huge success. Christian was also invited to host Tronic events all over the world from Tokyo, Detroit, Los Angeles, and London amongst many others.
