More new music from one of our favourite labels right now, Mutual Rytm. SHDW & Obscure Shape’s imprint has been consistent source of high grade techno inspired by the 90’s, and their next release from Alarico is just that. The Italian funk master supplies a high octane tribal roller in ‘AE86’ and we can’t get enough of it.

Alarico is on the back of an impressive year of music releases on the likes of Token Records, Hayes and more. The Italian youngster gained a significant amount of traction through his notable self-production only mixes, Alarico is a producer who is on a meteoric rise.

Combining nuances from across the genre to shape his own fast-paced and raw yet soulful sound, the Milan-based talent hasn’t slowed down since launching the alias in 2019. Having featured on the label’s VA ‘Federation Of Rythm I’ earlier this year, he now returns to SHDW and Obscure Shape’s blossoming Mutual Rytm imprint for his first EP on the label – delivering eight cuts across both digital and vinyl for ‘Boya’.

Today we premiere the A1 from Alarico’s ‘Boya’ EP. AE86 set’s the tone with rugged driving grooves, powered through tribal percussion, cheeky vocal hits and rolling low end. This sounds like it’s fresh out an early 00’s rave, as Alarico drives the groove with sharp syncopated rhythms and acute sampling. This is raw and driving funked up techno at it’s finest.

Premiere: Alarico - God Bless Hip Hop [MR-004]

A.Paul and DJ Dextro collaborate on the latest release in the revitalised Rilis series from the Unrilis record label. It features five dark and industrial tracks with hypnotic grooves, analogue sounds and dystopian atmosphere.

Rilis is a highly revered classic series that was originally launched by the iconic Rino Cerrone to be an outlet for his more experimental productions. Although Rino Cerrone has since retired from the music industry, his legacy lives on and the series was recently relaunched with new music from the likes Ritzi Lee and Samuel L Session.

Collaborating regularly, A.Paul and DJ Dextro are both veteran Portuguese producers known for their joint productions on scene-leading record labels ranging from Hans Bouffmyhre's Sleaze Records to the legendary Planet Rhythm.

Both of the guys are also accomplished solo producers, A.Paul heads up the highly influential record label Naked Lunch. DJ Dextro has recently dropped tracks on labels ranging from Pan-Pot's Second State to Coyu's Suara.

"Engage" opens the release with its eerie atmosphere and fast-flowing rhythms before the chunky percussion and stripped style of "Insipido". "Histeria" is third on the release with its trippy synth line and "Vessel 52" utilises punishing claps and explosive textures to deliver a constant flow of energy. "Reducer" closes the release with its shimmering pads and Detroit-inspired synth stabs that rappel with modulation.

La referencia 033 de Florida Music nos trae a la mente detrás del propio sello, Andrés Campo, con un EP de nombre ‘Numbers’ de cuatro tracks. Los enigmáticos títulos de cada tema son eso: números. ‘091 (Original Mix)’, ‘136 (Original Mix)’, ‘013 (Original Mix)’ y ‘006 (Original Mix)’ son los temas que componen este corto-no-tan-corto, que en líneas generales es intensamente percusivo, potente y muy físico, con toques atmosféricos y una clara progresión narrativa. Las melodías aparecen más hacia mitad del trabajo, pero acaba con la misma intensidad que al principio. Abriendo el EP tenemos ‘091 (Original Mix)’, un track con una percusión potente y suelta desde el comienzo, con unos interesantes sonidos metálicos y acuosos que acompañan el track hasta el final y que nos recuerdan al agobiante entorno de un submarino. Una bomba pistera en toda regla. Luego nos encontramos con ‘136 (Original Mix)’, un track que continúa la estela de ‘091’, comenzando con intensidad y un ritmo muy marcado, para luego dar paso toques atmosféricos y una línea de sintetizador marciana y ácida, y efectos metálicos parecidos en sensaciones a los del track que le precede. Diseñada para freír el cerebro… y las zapatillas. ‘136’ da paso a ‘013 (Original Mix)’, que tiene una percusión más apretada, de las que pegan al pecho, con aire más minimalista y toques melódicos y atmosféricos más marcados, que se van transformando a medida que progresa el track, convirtiéndose en una angustiosa melodía que acaba en una orgía sonora matemática y minimalista. Finalmente, cerrando este EP se encuentra ‘006 (Original Mix)’, que empieza más suave, pero que pronto empieza a destaparse como una genial combinación de efectos, percusión y melodías de sintetizador alienígenas, acompañado todo por esos sonidos metálicos y acuosos que recorren este trabajo con sutileza del primer al último tema. Todo con un tratamiento de las teclas impecable por parte de Andrés Campo. En resumen, otro completísimo trabajo por parte del jefe de Florida Music.

With 'The Healer' EP it appears Charlotte de Witte is on the verge of techno superstardom. Her take on the genre is always unflinchingly excellent and with 'Kuda' she smashes the big room sound out of the park. Expect to hear in the rave throughout the summer and beyond.

Christian Smith is one of the world’s leading exponents of techno, both as a DJ and producer he is always bold and innovative. With his output in recent years it is hard to imagine a list of prolific producers without his name towards the top. He has been at the top of his game for over two decades with his trademark groovy techno.

Although Swedish by birth, Christian spent most of his childhood years in Frankfurt, Germany which no doubt played an unexpected role in determining his musical tastes from a young age. After spending time in the US studying, Christian moved to Sao Paulo, Brazil playing the best clubs in the city and surrounding regions, where he still loves to play today and continues to have a very big following.

In 1995 he started his label Tronic, since then it has dominated the charts with releases from Christian himself and the likes of ANNA, Enrico Sangiuliano, Paco Osuna, Drunken Kong, Wehbba, Ramon Tapia, and more. The label has been the top selling techno label in the world according to Beatport, and is soon to celebrate its 500th release.
Tronic also has a weekly show which is now syndicated to over 100 stations worldwide, their 500th show was celebrated with special guest Carl Cox and now in 2022, they are already fast approaching the 600th episode.

Christian has dominated the charts and DJ’s playlists with a steady flow of releases on many high profile labels like Drumcode, Filth On Acid, Trick, Symbolism, Bedrock, and Tronic. His last EP on Tronic reached #1 spot on Beatport in both Techno and Electro in January of 2024. During the pandemic, Christian had a weekly Tronic Thursday stream which has reached over 10M people. On the remix front, Christian has recently reworked a track by UK hip hop superstar "Stormzy". His music is regularly featured on Spotify's biggest playlists and Christian is currently enjoying a big boost in his career.

Christian also ventured into his own branded night in Ibiza at mega club Eden. His first season on the Island in 2019 had 15 consecutive weeks of events and was a huge success. Christian was also invited to host Tronic events all over the world from Tokyo, Detroit, Los Angeles, and London amongst many others.
