I actually wrote part of this song during rehearsal (hence the title) backstage in 2018. We had a notepad and a pen as our props, and I quickly wrote this down in the dark when I realized I was literally dancing with my own shadow, "I like to play with the shadows in the theater, because that's the role I play... I close my eyes and think of all the ways." I ripped it out and put it in my pocket and wrote this song afterwards. I felt very isolated- not specifically during that performance(i guess yeah kinda that too)- but in general. it made me upset that I saw people achieve what I couldn't achieve, but I realized there's a time and place for everything and everyone. Your time will come. As long as you strive for what you want. Keep going friends. <3
