DJ & record collector Christine Renée walks listeners through a themed vinyl experience pulling from her personal collection. 

In this show CR share records with listeners, replicating hangs with friends in living rooms listening to WHOLE records.

This is a nod to the practice of AM radio circa the late '60s in which American Disc Jocks would play entire records on the airwaves, usually late night, when the counter culture would be up listening.

During this hour, three records were played concentrating on Psych- Rock. It features the debut release by Ultimate Spinach 🌿, a Boston band formed in 1967 who tried to put the east coast on the Psych-rock map with mild success.

We finish with Brian Jonestown Massacre's 1995 release "Space girl and Other Favorites". Watch the documentary "Dig" for more of their story.

Christine Renee hosts Phil Mison at the Lot Radio. Phil is a London-based DJ, composer, and music producer who has released solo work under the names of Cantoma and Reverso 68. Mison is best known for his compositions in the Balearic, ambient, and electronica musical genres, which have been described as "sophisticated, exotic, and close-to-the-bone, mutable yet cohesive" by reviewer Christina Roden. Mison is especially famous in the Balearic music scene, where he has been described as a pioneer and a goliath of that genre.

Mison began DJing at London's Milk Bar in 1991 where he played warm-up sets for other artists. He lists as his influences popular DJs such as José Padilla, who helped him get his start after a chance meeting, whereupon Mison began a two-year stint at Ibiza's Café Del Mar.

Mison, as Cantoma, currently releases albums under the auspices of Leng Records.

This is a live set from the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, Labour Day Weekend. DoubleFisted boys hosted the party, and most life forms were on acid. This is my all vinyl set opening for Eric Duncan aka "Dr Dunks".

"Strictly Desert" Live at the ACE Hotel: Palm Springs, CA

A DeepSoul 3 commissioned mix. 

The story behind it is this: our roommate let an old girlfriend of his throw a party at our house in the Hollywood Hills aka Laurel Canyon. He was out of town. 

The guests were all on E, but I was more of the mind to put in ear plugs and sleep it out, as my taste differed from the DJs' playing the party. 

I woke up at sunrise and there was a few still going. The house was great for going hard... or soft. It was at the tippy-top of a hill, either side dropped off into a canyon of trees, strange mansions and shacks. You felt like an eagle up there, away from everyone. There were coyotes and barn owls.

I got on the decks and played for these men who were running around the perimeter of the house spraying each other with the hose. They were so happy! and loving each other. 

I started playing and they slowly came into the house to dance and at one point they starting falling on top of each other making loud, barking, seal-like noises, and then sweetly by the end of the mix they were all on making out. They looked like a group of whiskered seals sunbathing and rolling somewhere on the coast. 

So I thought, "What happy little seals, so far from the ocean" 

I moved to Venice shortly after.

Marooned in my Park Ave (Brooklyn) apt, the view from my tiny window inspired me to speak to a city silenced by a blizzard. This is my first experiment with a radio show format. I sat down and spontaneously made this all-vinyl mix in February 2006 for the love of snow.

I watched a live stream of Times Square while selecting the music for this show from my studio in Brooklyn. The cameras provide a bird's-eye view of this thriving neon mecca. From above and at various times of day, this eternally lit city center was peaceful and had a feeling of water. My aim with this mix was to mirror the calmI felt rising from the chaos.
