The first poem on the album began the metaphor that I continued throughout. Highway is inspired by a realization that there’s alway something to discover and appreciate, regardless of the path we wind up taking.

Canvas was inspired by one of the first slam poems I wrote about a painting as a metaphor for life. The song is combined with Leaves, which marks a change in seasons.

Battlefield is about creating your own sense of the world amidst the frustrating state we may find it in. Sometimes winning the battle takes stepping out of the ring and focusing on all the beauty around you. Sometimes it's about not letting the anger and the indifference of others cause you to abandon your belief in the beauty of the world, or take your energy away from recognizing and building the good.
