As a child, Chris "freight train" Floyd was a rocker, loving bands like, Cream, Hendrix, and The Allman Brothers. At age 12, discovering the Grateful Dead, their multi-genre style opening his mind to Blues, Bluegrass and Country. At 16, the teenager fell in love with the harmonica. Six years later, Chris joined The Rock Creek Band, a critically acclaimed Bluegrass band, his banjo influenced stylings fitting right in with the band’s progressive sound. 1988 found the young man moving to SW Virginia, living and playing music with The Carter Family. Arriving at Nashville in 1989, Freight Train has evolved into a singer-songwriter-harmonica player whose music fits most nicely in the Americana genre.   Chris had done countless hours of studio work and has shared the stage with hundreds of amazing musicians, most notably, The Carter Family, The Nighthawks, Doc Watson John Cowan (New Grass Revival), The Doobie Brothers, Keb Mo, Chesapeake (featuring Mike Auldridge of the Seldom Scene) The Nationals (featuring Jack Pearson), Warren Haynes, Miranda Louise, and many others! These days, Freight Train (when not in the studio or writing songs) shares frontman duties with his all-original Americana band, The Mighty Train Wrecks!
