Another RPM track. This one is supposed to have a vocal melody but I couldn't write a lyric in time. There are some dodgy edits and the acoustic is a bit off-tempo, but again, a demo. The attitude to all this stuff, I suppose, has been: "Get it down, worry about the performance later."

This was originally titled "Smiley..." but I don't like either spelling of smily/smiley. 

Smiling Face On The Divorce Papers

Another RPM track. I'm reasonably pleased with this one, save for the T. S. Eliot sample which is simply there to fill a gap where I couldn't quite muster the melody or lyrics. I think I'll develop this one a bit more. That poem was quite inspirational during the week I was writing all this stuff.

Waiting In The Sun

I think I'd listened to a bare-bones Mark Lanegan track and wanted to try something similar, just a drum machine and some loops. I'm told it's my "Olympics theme". I agonised for a while about where the Moog hits should be, and where it should be played portamento (I'm never sure how to use that word in a sentence). I wanted to put a recording of a voicemail message over the last repeat, so I recorded one and imported it into the sesssion. "Bingo!" thought I. Then I accidentally deleted the file. F*ck. I didn't want to record it again. The original was good, and repeating it would have felt a bit disingenuous. If anyone wants to leave me a voice mail message to put over it, I'd be delighted.

Tall Grass

A song inspired by the loss of my Nan in July 2013. In planning the funeral we discovered that my Nan & Granddad had a favourite song, or at least a song that they considered to be 'their song', which was titled "Two Sleepy People" by Hoagie Carmichael. I have liberated a few lyrics from that for this, coupled with the usual sentimental nonsense that spills out of my gob when I'm in front of a microphone.
This is totally a demo, replete with dodgy drums, some dodgy piano playing and some questionable vocals!

2013 Showreel

I am a guitarist / vocalist / keyboard player for hire. In February 2014 I decided to try this "RPM Challenge" thing, writing & recording at least 35 minutes of music that month. I'll be putting that stuff up here (sporadically I'm sure). And other stuff. I need to write more. 

Current projects:

Since 2009 I have been working sporadically with LEE ABRAHAM, a progressive rocker based in Southampton. I joined Lee for some live dates in 2010, and have since spent some brief but fruitful time in Lee's studio. His fourth solo album "Distant Days", to which I contributed rhythm & lead guitar and backing vocals, was released in February 2014. - http://www.leeabraham.co.uk/
