made this while my internet was out about a year ago

so... where have i been?
for a while now ive been really struggling with finishing any music projects ive done. im earnestly trying but its really tough, as my personal standard totally spiked after the making of that herebeke track. ive also been dealing with impostor syndrome, feelings of not being a "real" musician, thinking my skills are completely worthless. its very selfish of me but ive been seeing so many chiptune artists really shining and i always feel a vague sense of jealousy that others are still able to do their thing and much better than me while i simply feel stuck and especially without much improvement.

it's really sucked but im trying to bounce back. i'd like to try doing some more originals soon, but right now i have quite a few covers that id really like to try to finish

this was inspired by both rrthiel’s original and especially joy’s cover as you might can tell! this is my first time using furnace and it’s fantastic. the only tracker ive used is LSDJ before now... i just get this weird paralysis whenever i try to learn a pc-based tracker, so that’s been a big roadblock for me.

however, ive been growing more and more unsatisfied with fl studio for chiptune now. im continuing to become more ambitious with what i want to do and accomplish with my chiptune, things that are really difficult in fl. (which, last month i was working on a cover that really abused the hell out of Genny’s controls lol. maybe ill transcribe it over to furnace and finish it one day) this has unfortunately caused me a lot of burnout, if you couldn’t tell by my soundcloud page. i talked about a lot of this in the soundcloud description for [MMC5] Mixed Match - Tetris & Dr. Mario, so i’m not going to copy and paste all of it here. if you’re curious to read, feel free.

on the bright side, this is also doubling as my first time really doing anything with 2xYM2612! im really excited to see what the other chips here have in store for me, now that im no longer limited to just whatever vsts exist

also i need to reclaim my role of ginger root superfan chiptunist so that was also a factor
