This was originally an experimental track to explore the capabilities of the OPL3, there is still far more potential to bend this rather versatile synthesiser further, but I pretty much went ballistic on this track, going through the data registers library and trying to find ways to bend things around, things like values change in the instruments as they play, deletion of some note reset and attack registers to make the sound go out of whack while replacing with other data to do further edits to the already bent FM sounds, you will notice near the end I started messing around with the timing data registers to achieve a rather interesting beat and rhythm timing. Above all, this is still an experimental track, and I still have more ideas how I can bend things further when I get the old machine fired up again.

Mushroom Trip

Hey all you people, I am Essentric, I have been into music since I was a kid, could not find me dead without a portable radio or a cassette player when I was a kid. It all started when I got my Casio Rapman Keyboard which went everywhere I went, then fast forward... I got my first computer that I really got into business with, an AMD K6 200Mhz, since then I was trying to produce music on pretty much on a shoestring budget, Starting with a MIDI sequencer called Anvil Studio, having 2 sound cards in one computer to try and get a larger sound font library, the beginnings of my music developing where I began to get a little bit more serious, until a catastrophic computer failure reduced me down to a dinosaur SoundBlaster 16, there was no stopping me, I saw the FM sound chip in the SB16 had potential, I kept computers running by scrounging hardware from recycling centres. since a lot of electronic music rely on FM synthesis (either hardware or VST form) to generate a lot of the dance floor shaking baselines, that was when I got onto AdlibTracker2, Which I have produced some of my best tracks, but they are existing as sequencer files in the deep dark dungeons of a "586" machines hard drive, in storage while I have all of a sudden been busy with trying to make a living and well, one day I will build and fire up another vintage computer to get back into the Adlib realm to retrieve my long lost creations. These days I am using a 27" iMac, I am not sure what the specs are but it is a top of the line model at the beginning of 2013, and i have started to remix some of the productions of the AnvilStudio 2 sound card days, such as Alien Worlds is the first one I remixed on the iMac, after straining on some university studies in the upcoming weeks, Ill send another old MIDI file through the "Logic Express" meat grinder for all of you to enjoy. :)
