Mesh Series 016: Kinn

A curated series where we commission artists to make an hour long mix of whatever inspires them to experiment, produce, and what they listen to.

The mix extracts highlights from Kinn's debut album, Anamnesis Landscape, and expands on his favoured themes and aesthetics of the macabre, presented at times with a tongue in cheek “Dread turned up all the way to 11” fashion.

Using extracts of dialogue, these fragmented conversations evoke a subjective narrative, each monologue lingers in the imagination of the listener as they are juxtaposed or mirrored by the brooding drones and fleeting moments of respite. Thanks again to Kinn for contributing to this months series.

"Jack Aldridge (who took the photo) is one of my oldest friends, someone I haven’t seen in person in a very long time due to the pandemic. For this reason I asked him to work with me on “something” around the same time this mix for Mesh came about Whilst I was putting the final touches to the mix I asked him to send over a few photos, without any context, I was just interested to catch up with what he was working on, out of the few dozen photos he sent I became transfixed on this image, the content has no immediate grand concept and yet it’s ambiguity had possessed me. Listening through the finished mix now, the sound and the image have become one, the narrative they evoke together
is expansive and personable, I would hope this is an expectation of listeners of my chin-stroke-type-beat music anyway, to sit and stare into space and let their mind wander, perhaps to places they wouldn’t normally be comfortable to explore" - Kinn

Home Comforts - 03 - Afterhours

The home comforts series (along with my Barefoot Adventures) are a true way for me to express myself as an artist.

Its a different kind of experience to playing in a club, to making people dance. I want to take a moment to thank everyone of you who has supported it so far.  I appreciate some people may be put off when there aren’t beats and it isn’t within the club format.

I feel as if there is enough of that right now, and thats why I am focusing on other things for now.
The point of these projects I run is to give people more than one certain thing, to create moods and feelings relevant to all of us, whether that be your grandmother sitting by the fire, or you and your lover laying in the grass.

A big dream for me is to feel 100% open and free with my creative choices, not to feel locked into one sound or one stereotype, because after all aren’t we made of 60% water? Shouldn’t we flow and move in that way too?   We aren't concrete squares.

So once again, hugs for the support. Its a dream.

Here is my new Home Comforts, designed for your trip to the forest, to escape this madness and remind yourself what you are part of.
Inspired by my school days and our long youthful nights spent by the campfire, singing, beatboxing and staring into the abyss of those very flames.

NTEIBINT is the musical alter ego of Greek producer George Bakalakos, who has been at the forefront of the Greek electronic music scene for a number of years.

The gifted producer is known for lush, sonic soundscapes and strong grooves. He hosts a daily radio show on the Athenian eclectic radio station, En Lefko 87.7. Currently joining forces with singer and fellow Athenian Matina Sous Peau on 'Back To The Roots of Love' and 'Love Is Everywhere', NTEIBINT has become well known for his sumptuous reinterpretation of classic disco sounds.

Before teaming up with Matina Sous Peau, NTEIBINT has been collaborating with Greek singer Σtella (signed to Sub Pop Records) on outstanding indie dance tracks 'Never Without You', 'The Owner', 'Hide In' and 'A State Nearby', including remixes by Ewan Pearson, Adam Port, Anoraak and Zombies In Miami. They also jointly produced and composed the musical score for the Opening Ceremony of the first European Games (Baku 2015).

Artists like Chet Faker, Melina Mercouri, Horixon, Jamie Lidell and Satin Jackets got the remix treatment from NTEIBINT so far, and just in case you're wondering: NTEIBINT is Greek for David and is pronounced "n-thaï-bint".

NTEIBINT's latest single "Colours" is out now on Eskimo Recordings, including remixes by Theo Kottis and Romain FX.
