Sometimes I hear a track on a jazz record and think it would sound great if it was played a little slower.  So this is a mix of songs pitchshifted a bit slower than how it's supposed to play.  If I didn't tell you these tracks were slowed down, you would have never known the difference.

Slowed Down Jazz Funk Mix 

1) Tell us a bit about yourself and your record collection.

I'm DJ/Producer for over 20 years living in Jersey, Channel Islands... Recently release a track with Oxygen from SoundSci on Dinked45 Records, record collection mainly into hip-hop/funk/soul and reggae but have a very eclectic taste so won't rule anything out as you'll guess by the mix lol.  Been buying 7" on and off for last 10 years, especially been keen on finding the samples which have been used in hip-hop records for Djing, not fanatically about having the original but nice to have if can afford it :)

2) 45/7 is all about celebrating the 7". Can you tell us a bit about what you love about the format.

A lot more fun and challenging to DJ with as the tracks are finite time length to play, there's also the investment not only with buying the track but time spent tracking down something, alot easy with the internet now though.

3) One hour of vinyl goodness... can you talk us through your selection for your 45/7 mix?

To be honest, it was a bunch of tracks thrown together, nothing planned. Kind of wanted it to reflect parts of my dj sets that's all and records i like.

4) Where can people catch you / listen to your music? 

Can mainly been seen playing in Jersey at most of the bars, clubs and festivals in the Island, every so often get opportunity to play off island which is a bonus aswell.  Music can be found here:

Portugal based DJ Fradinho gives his take on Nimbus Sextet’s album title track ‘Dreams Fulfilled’

Rui Fradinho has been DJing since the age of 15, having played drums and keyboards on several different projects and starting his electronic music production journey in 2001. 
His musical base stems across different genres, including House, Drum N Bass, Hip Hop, Footwork, Bass Music, having more recently nurtured a deeper devoted passion for all things Broken Beat / Nu Jazz. 

For this remix, Fradinho spent time recreating the original keyboards on his own harmonic terms, taking time to step and stop into every single chord change and play them one by one.  Wanting, as always, to deliver his best work he embraced the challenge to achieve the harmonic colours that fit the track perfectly.
