Oldskool darkside jungle meets slightly newer flavors. I LOVE the sci-fi vibes and horror samples from the oldskool darkside era, so that's where the mix starts. And that's where it stays for a while. I wanted the mix to stay dark throughout, but move from the panicky terror from the oldskool darkside classics through some more action-packed 'let's go!'-tunes - and then towards hope.

Psytrance Tunnelsyn Mix - an oldschool vibe with lively basslines and rising intensity

My set from the Tunnelsyn party in Copenhagen. I had a lot of fun adding 'Valley of the Shadows' into the mix here and there, which I had to, for obvious junglistic reasons, because.... well, the party was in a tunnel. 

An hour and a half of junglism for the dancefloor. Oldest track from 1994, newest from 2024, so a 30 year span.

This is what I played at Drum & Bass Klubbens Easter Rave at Culture Box - on Friday April 18th 2025.

 I love darkside sci-fi sounds, complex drum patterns and time travel, so that’s what I brought to the decks: Lots of darkside sci-fi vibes, lots of skin-tingling, electrifying, goosebump-inducing, multi-dimensional drum patterns like they made them in the 90s, and a track selection spanning from 1993 to 2024. 

I love mixing completely new tracks with really old ones, and I LOVE that some of the oldest tracks in the bunch (from ’93 and ’94) sound like they arrived from the future. And for those of you who remember and love the darkside classics from the 90s, I left a sprinkle of easter eggs in the mix.

This was my first time playing at Culture Box, and I had ONE hour, so things heated up fast. Yeiiii.  A big thank you to the original darkside junglists on the dancefloor. I heard your screams. <3

My set from Origin of Trance at Pumpehuset on May 17th 2025. Beat Bizarre was the headliner of the night, so I played lots of oldschool Iboga sounds - mixed with older and newer stuff from around the world. Setting out at 134 bpm and rising to 145. Earliest track from 1997, newest from 2024. Mixing the old with the new is where the fun is at. Beat Bizarre meets Braincell meets Behind Blue Eyes meets British psytrance (like SuperModule, Dickster and early Avalon) plus some Electrypnose magic, a sprinkle of Grouch, some awesome Ace Ventura rollers + a few surprises (and then some Etnica and X-Dream for the ultra nostalgia crew).

Bas Under Buen 2025 DJ-mix - Chriszka - #BUB2025

Two hours of psytrance, mixing and blending the very old with the very new: The oldest track is from 1997 - the newest from 2025. 

When I play, I try to create what would be the IDEAL situation for myself on the dancefloor, which is two hours of non-stop flow with absolutely no breaks. So that if I WAS on the dancefloor, I could fully lose myself in the trance tunnel (and work up a proper sweat). 

So: The only catch-your-breath-moment allowed in this set is towards the end, in X-Dream's HYPER-classic The Second Room (remixed by Modus).

When I mix, I really like jumping from decade to decade, blending a rollin' Avalon track (new'ish) with a funky Ticon from 2000 and then back to a new Braincell favourite from 2025, and then back to a crispy Haldolium classic from 1999, and so on, dissolving timelines. 

As tends to happen, there's a lot of British psytrance (Avalon, Martian Arts, Dickster, Supermodule, Killerwatts etc. etc.) in this mix (I just love the lively basslines, the rolling rhythms, their sense of humour) - but there's also quite a lot of Swedish and Danish flavors in there: Battle of the Future Buddhas, Behind Blue Eyes, Oxyflux, Psychopod, Ticon and P-Woland. 

And, as always, quite a few Braincell tracks, LOL. And my new Haldolium favourite (from 1999) which I will have to mix into every set for a while, now. And Electrypnose. And Ace Ventura and Gorovich and Dekel. And many more. ;-) A lot can be accomplished in two hours.

Chriszka at Module - psytrance at LSD.PANDA.CLUB (July 25th 2025)

These are the tracks I played on my last visit at the Random Friday show (run by CRS since forever) - in June 2025. 

As always, I enjoy mixing the really old with the new: The oldest track in the mix is from 1994: 'Kudos' by DJ Pulse and Alex Reece. The newest is from 2024: 'Way Better' by Amoss and Minor Forms. 

Most of the tracks I play in this set are collabs. Amoss is slightly overrepresented in the set, featured on four tracks. My original plan was to do a dark and minimal set, but I just HAVE to mix 'The Force is Electric' by Nico and Ed Rush into everything this year, and, well, that's minimalism out the window. 

All tracks are pretty dark, though (apart from 'Skreech' by Hooverian Blur (2023), that adds a sprinkle of silliness in the mix. But only for 31 seconds. Then back to the dark vibes).

I will be back on the show on November 7th!

Chriszka at Random Friday - jungle and drum'n'bass (dark tracks from 1994 to 2024)

An hour of darkside jungle and drum'n'bass with eerie horror vibes and lots of movie samples - including some of the biggest darkside anthems from 1993: 'The Dark Stranger' (Boogie Down Productions), 'Predator' (Shimon) and sprinkles of an absolute favorite of mine: 'Scottie' by Subnation. Mixed with new and newish favorites, from  'Fire Is Our Friend' by 4AM Kru (2024) to 'Valyrian Steel' (Congo Natty and Jaguar Paw, 2022).

Every single track in the mix is selected because of its dark and moody atmospheres and horror samples. The only track in the mix which is not decidedly dark is the second one, 'Bubbled' by Lovell. BUT it's from his album 'Gasping, Dying, But Somehow Still Alive', so it qualifies.

When I first heard jungle in London at 18 and instantly fell in love with it all, the big darkside anthems were packed with horror and movie samples, and I was completely fascinated by that. I still am.

Back then, it was practically a whole hobby within the hobby to figure out where certain samples came from — The Evil Dead, Gremlins, Predator, and so on. These days, it’s a bit easier to track that stuff down thanks to the internet - with whole facebook groups dedicated to sample-hunting.
