Sol Selectas embarks on its sixth annual summer voyage to present the much anticipated Summer Sol VI compilation.

Blending organic sounds and traditional instruments with electronic textures and trippy synth lines, this eclectic release spans from downtempo electronica to atmospheric deep house with a melodic groove.

Each year Sabo collects the finest tracks he can find from across the world and releases them on the day of the summer solstice, which is the year’s longest day of sunlight.

With a tight knit family built around the label, Summer Sol is also a welcoming party for many of the artists who are joining the community. Those making their Sol Selectas debut this year includes the likes of DJ Chus, Balam, La Payara, The Scumfrog, KÖNI, and Depart.

It also welcomes back familiar faces such as Dandara, Amine K, Giovanny Aparacio, Mula, Amentia, Chambord and Sabo himself as the party host.

Under the sun's rays we are all equal, regardless of skin colour, gender or sexuality, and this release is a celebration of the music that overcomes diversity to bring people together.

Each of the tracks have their own story and is a little ray of sunshine to warm the mind, body and soul. This year’s release features tracks with roots in Mexico, USA, Spain, Mali, Turkey, Colombia, France, Argentina, Bulgaria, Italy, Germany, Morocco, Ukraine, Chile, Netherlands, UAE, Switzerland, Belgium, Hungary, Armenia, and Australia.

Separately each of the artists on this EP has featured on other labels such as Get Physical, Bar 25 Music, Akbal Music, Cosmic Awakenings, Pipe & Pochet, Magician On Duty, A Tribe Called Kotori, 3000 Grad Records and many others of equal note.

The music drifts from coast to coast, across several mountain ranges, deserts dunes, and salty oceans, spanning years of generational influences. The tempos, melodies, and rhythmic combinations take us from chill out, to groove, tribal, afro, and to deep. We hope this music inspires, and carries you on a worldwide tour.

The artwork by Helia Jamali takes us to a parallel dimension lit by the frequencies and energy of the SOL.

There are no doubts that Nicolas Jaar is a legend, that Andara is gold, but regarding Carminho, whom most of you probably do not know, she is one of the most amazing Fado singers alive, and my very favorite female singer for many years . It's hard to put in words the magic of her voice, the soul and perfection of her singing, and most of all, the heritage of Portugal and Humanity that Fado music represents. We are delighted for having such piece of art and sharing it with the Downtempo Community.

Thank you beloved Andara, you never stop bringing light, art and Love to our lives on a daily basis and we could not imagine life or Octo without you!

Ben & Vincent's new EP 'Okoa' presented by WAYU Records will launch you into an adventure of a lifetime. Along for the ride, you will find Xique-Xique and Dr Parnassus exquisite remixes that will aid expand the horizons.

'Okoa' influenced by Cristobal Tapia de Veers White Lotus soundtrack and 1950s Exotica music is the curious ferocity deep inside you that launches any wonderous odyssey. The thirst for uncovering the unfamiliar knows it can be satisfied by the call of nature's seducing sounds. Creeping through the wild, you are aware that you are not alone, no matter what your eyes may tell you. Around every corner, under and up above, interesting companions await you. The danger is present throughout, but you thrive in the thick of it.  

Amid adventure, connection blossoms in strange places. 'Aldeia' slithers in like a snake ready to coil around your body but means no harm- not yet. If you are brave enough to saunter in with such confidence then some fun is to be had first. Impish chords play with soft drumming that lures you in, and hypnotic notes put you in a trance. There is little room for escape, but ask yourself, do you want to? 'Aldeia' has a magnetizing Latin influence that courses through the track like passion through your veins and makes you one with the fierce jungle around you.

The time has come to leave your latest connections and continue down the path of discovery. There is a secret that this jungle holds and it wants to entrap you before you have the chance to discover it. 'Moviola' which is a track that's heavily influenced by Gustavo Santaolalla, leads you into a quaint village far from the realities of your world. You are a foreigner in this land, and the choice to enter is daunting. They are suspect of this new character and feel out whether or not you are a real threat to it. The language barrier is a limitation hard to surpass, but you read each other instead. A bond manifests through a small window of familiarity as it's present throughout the music. The human connection proves to be a powerful entity, and it allows you the opportunity to become immersed in their culture and form new ideas of family.
