Hello Old Friend

The first song I wrote where I was able to tell the story I was trying to tell. It's the beautiful live oak tree in my backyard telling his story of seeing all he's seen in his long life. This song is the kicking off point of me being confident about my songwriting abilities.

This started out as me just messing around with a wah pedal on a new guitar and ended up becoming this kind of anti-love song. I kinda love the wah solo at the end after the chorus.

Traveler

A song about grief and aging. Time slipping away from us all. The endless and unyielding current of time. Losing loved ones, some way too young. Watching a parent age. What questions will we have when our old age is upon us and we are at the end of our lives? Did my life matter? Do people love me? Did I show them love? Was I good and kind? Did I make the life I wanted? Did I concentrate on things that matter rather than things that do not matter? What happens after death? Something? Nothing? Ultimately, you have to be enough for yourself.

I told myself I was going to write a sweet and sexy slow jam for my girlfriend and I think I just did. Started with that opening electric piano riff and this is what came out.

T-Strike - Cooper the Duper

I took up guitar at the age of 15 during the hair metal era and all I wanted to do was be Randy Rhoads and Edward Van Halen. Played in a couple bands along the way and discovered I prefer to be a lone wolf and create and record my own music. I've evolved and mellowed over the years and experimented in a little bit of everything. Some of my favorite artists are the Black Crowes, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Pink Floyd, Rush, Van Halen, Foo Fighters, Porcupine Tree, Joe Bonamassa, Counting Crows and Bob Seger My current musical vision is ambient rock in the vein of Pink Floyd (I adore David Gilmours playing and songwriting)and Steven Wilson/Porcupine Tree. I've taken up the piano and love experimenting with all the fantastic recording and software tools that are available to us. The computer is now an instrument...as valid as the guitar or drums and I use it to create the music that is in my mind. I'm currently concentrating on soundscapes for film and TV work but do not limit myself to any type of music.
