For all those who remember the days of crazy youth and reckless abandon. I wanted to represent some of my other cultural influences, bluegrass has been in my ears since I was a little kid. I grew up half my life in the Appalachian Mountains and the other half living in various beach towns as a navy brat. I wanted this song to reflect both sides of the same coin. This song was written for my late grandfather on his deathbed. In honor of the Reverend Gene Robertson. I didn't want it to be sad.. I wanted it to be upbeat and happy. Exactly how I imagine his walk was to the gate. The voice in the beginning and end are his voice from a sermon he gave at his home in Genoa, WV in 1986.
