Back on the Good Custard Mixtapes this week is none other than Monsieur Van Pratt - the driving force behind Super Spicy Records and a name synonymous with feel-good grooves.

Hailing from Mexico, Van Pratt is a self-taught musician, producer and DJ whose sound pulls straight from the golden eras of disco, funk and jazz, reshaping them into something modern, warm and irresistibly danceable. Since being named one of Traxsource’s Top 100 Nu-Disco Artists back in 2019, he’s cemented himself as one of the most exciting figures in the global nu-disco movement.

On stage, his sets have lit up dancefloors across Mexico, where he’s shared bills with a wide array of heavy hitters — from James Richardson (MGMT) and Thris Tian (Boiler Room), to Hotmood, The Funk District, and Mike Simonetti. Whether behind the decks or in the studio, Monsieur Van Pratt brings pure groove energy every single time.

The first track is a remix from one of my favorite contemporary Brasilian musician, Rogê, "Existe Uma Voz".
The second is a revisit of a 1975 track from Alcione, "Este Mundo Tem..;".
The third is a remix of legendary singer Clara Nunes 1971 samba song "Ê baiana".
