R.E. Seraphin - Big Break

Vancouver-based singer/composer Ian William Craig returns with a first track from a gorgeous new LP of material commissioned to soundtrack the computer game Magnesium 173. Released on double vinyl and digital formats, ‘Music for Magnesium_173’ offers another tour de force display of Craig’s peerless power as an improvising composer able to summon and shape the sublime via an arsenal of modified tape machinery, electronics and his own gorgeous voice, with the results forging a unique kind of choral-based, heavily-abrasive take on ambient composition.

Created by Graham Johnson, Magnesium_173 launched in August 2021 and is described as “an elegant puzzle game inspired by quantum mechanics", which uses a branching series of puzzles to explore a set of rules, with new ideas constantly introduced, examined and twisted. Ian’s music is likewise rippling with possibility and continually in flux. With delays in the game’s development, his original attempts at a score ended up being released back in 2018 as the ‘Thresholder’ EP. A new set of material was composed but then lost when a computer containing the mixes was stolen. Ian was then forced to try and recreate that music from the stems and some old Logic file versions, resulting in this released version - its form only fixed down as one of numerous possible outcomes with the accidents of the partly-controlled, part-random collaboration of his machines playing their part.

South London DIY punk outfit adults today release the final single single “tfl has a lot to answer for” form their forthcoming debut album “for everything, always”, coming out on October 14th on Fika Recordings.

The new single things we achieve is “a reflection of drinking way too much in yr mid 20s, staying up too late, burning yrself out and how it impacts on yr relationships and mental health” it’s two and a half minutes of delightfully scrappy, catchy DIY pop that’s sure to appeal to fans of Los Campesinos, Martha and Johnny Foreigner.

adults are a noisy pop band desperately clinging on to the ghosts of 2009. 
Their songs are a silly, joyful, and occasionally sad, look back at the tail end of their 20s, a way to grapple with breakups, parties, alcohol and loneliness, and looking hopefully into the future.
They’ve released singles with Art Is Hard and For The Sakes Of Tapes, and self released an EP (The Weekend Was Always Almost Over), which was subsequently released on vinyl by Caballito records. They’re based in south London.

To breathe, is to activate a certain space. Short breaths, deep breaths, dying breaths or sensual ones - they evoke variety of features and peculiarities that the breath embodies. Breath is also a precondition of voice, and further, of a spoken word. Paving the path for every physiological and philosophical activity, breath is essential to all we do and all that we are. 
Auditory situations in this piece are fluidly changing from one to another in a constant fluctuation and transfiguration of the musical material. Acoustic spaces inside of which the music is being situated, give room for the sounds to appear, to change and disappear, develop and transform, and inside of these spaces, the ear can swift freely from one sound object to another in a spatial and non-linear listening experience.

Commissioned for the Tingles & Clicks project by the Musikprotokoll 2020 and supported by the program "Creative Europe" of the European Union and SHAPE platform.

The work was presented in ambisonics, binaural and stereo formats. It was composed for an interactive environment, and the sections (structure, duration) were open. This is one of its renderings (structure and format-wise), made for the presentation at Radio Belgrade in 2020.

Presented at Musikprotokoll, Graz, at Radio Belgrade 3, CYNETART festival and Ö1 radio (Zeit-Ton radio show).

Ummagma combines their love of indie rock, synthpop and electronica to create “dreamgaze” power pop. In these two tracks, stunning hypnotic vocals and lush blissed-out resonance create a sonic launching pad to the galaxy or the universe within while getting your groove on. In "Rotation", this occurs on waves of bombastic synths, and in “Live and Let Die”, epic guitar riffs lace with magnetic drumbeats to stage an astonishing dreampop fest. With a jubilant Stereolab and Curve-type feel, these addictive tracks lovingly embed themselves in your brain. Since exploding onto the underground music scene in 2012 with 2 independently released full-length LPs – “Antigravity” and self-titled “Ummagma” – the duo has been blazing a colourful, yet eclectic, path forward. Ummagma are a rare commodity in today's music scene: deliciously diverse, dreamy, and loaded with positivity.

Ummagma is an eclectic potpourri of dreampop, indie rock, electronica, post-rock, ethereal wave, space rock, post-punk, ambient and shoegaze. Their musical play is full of resonance, beats, rhythm and vocals ranging from gossamer to deadpan over a bed of intriguing soundscapes. Ummagma began as an affair of love and sound. Band members Alexx Kretov and Shauna McLarnon met in Moscow while soul searching, their relationship ultimately developing into a marriage and the musical partnership we know today as Ummagma. 

Ummagma debuted on the music scene in 2012, simultaneously releasing two debut albums. In the past few years, Ummagma has released several EPs involving several genuine music icons, including Dean Garcia (CURVE), Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins), Rudy Tambala (A.R.Kane), and Malcolm Holmes (OMD).

Ummagma won the 2013 Alternative Eurovision on Britain's Amazing Radio (representing Ukraine amongst 23 countries), as well as numerous independent music video awards. They have been featured in Rolling Stone Russia and Rolling Stone Italia. Ummagma also co-wrote, produced and performed on the 2014 debut Sounds of Sputnik EP, which saw them working with Graham Bonnar (Swervedriver, Brian Jonestown Massacre) and Fran Ashcroft (Damon Albarn, Lords of Acid). This album held in the CMJ charts for 7 weeks and earned them a Jagermeister Music Award (Russia's most prestigious indie music award).
