My forty years happened in five
banished to the desert to survive.
I paid my sins in full.
And in this epoch of my life
I wandered eight steps ahead of the line.
In those years my skin seared,
my blue blood boiled cold.

Caught the hooks by mid day,
believed email barbs from higher powers.
Towers blocked out all the stars at midnight. 
Boiled blood's the payment 
for unclaimed trips to a possible future midnight
stars, will I ever see again?

Written with hooks and blood
are scribbles of future promises.
Imagined days undone.

Spiraled light beyond the sand and dust,
the face that's in the distance,
images of none of the above.
Sight poked out by the right hand,
spiraled sides of division.
