SRMR201 : BiGz - Andalucia (Dave Pad Remix)

Following the release of their latest album ‘Rising and Falling’, the duo return with a brilliant remix package centered around one of the standout tracks from the album. Titled ‘Can’t Hurt You’ the track features the sublime vocal talents of Kim Ann Foxman.

Fans of the album will be well versed with the delicate floating synths and memorable vocals of the supremely-talented Miss Foxman from the original album version. But this release is all about the three remixes from Guti, Russ Yallop, and Just Be!

Desolat’s Argentinean supremo Guti offers his own refreshing take on the original, injecting some serious South American funk and flavour to proceedings. From the outset Guti stamps his unmistakable groove on the original taking the tempo up a level and adding new keys and vocal samples, culminating in a fantastic dance-floor orientated remix.

Next up is one of Crosstown Rebels leading lights Russ Yallop who lends his hand to create a trippy yet sensuous version of the original. His remix is characterised by striking deep bass and a jacking kick which take centre stage. The remix builds and builds into a swirling distorted crescendo until it drops back into its absorbing big-room beat.

Completing this package is a special dub by Just Be, one of Matt Bushwacka!’s aliases. It takes the listener on a much more hypnotic journey. While the subtle synths and haunting vocals of the original remain, these are complemented by adding new percussive elements to the track, taking it to new sonic depths.

Overall then fans can expect yet another strong remix package from Layo & Bushwacka! which features three extremely high-quality versions of the fantastic original.

Layo & Bushwacka! - Can't Hurt You - Original Mix

Number nineteen on San Francisco’s Manjumasi features the complex and engaging production styles of fast-rising Indian producer Vir Rattan Chowdhry, aka Vridian. With a slew of releases to his name on notable imprints such as Nie Wieder Schlafen and Traum Schallplatten, Vridian is quickly establishing himself as one to watch.

The two originals on this package showcase Vridian’s complex sound design and range. The title track, Silverfish, is a deep and heady sonic adventure, anchored by a heavy breakbeat and powerful synth stabs. The track moves intently through an exploration of whirling sci-fi soundscapes. Vir’s next offering on the package is The First Rain, a more abstract composition that layers together a dense combination of arpeggiated synth structures and pads, punctuated by a filtered jungle rhythm. The result is lush and mysterious.

The first remix comes from accomplished Montréal producer Clarian. His remix of Silverfish builds from a dark synth-driven groove into a lush break of 90s piano chords, evoking a nostalgic classic anthem vibe with a modern twist. Next up is a remix from Manjumasi’s own Mark Slee. His “Bali Tide Mix” of The First Rain is a dancefloor-ready interpretation, featuring a deep tech groove with chord stabs bouncing through the space between Vridian’s melodies.

Langenberg has been busy releasing his distinctive brand of knowledgeable deepness for well over half a decade now. As co-founder of the Essen-based label Mild Pitch, the man otherwise knows as Max Heesen has been responsible for some sublime moments in house, both on his own label, and for imprints such as Liebe*Detail, Drumpoet Community and Poker Flat.

Here, Desseous Recordings get their hands on the sumptuous release The Finisher. Informed and influenced by the classic Detroit sound, Langenberg produces yet another exceptional transmission. The title track is a smooth like liquid gold, yet contains a dub-tinged techno edge reminiscent of Langenberg’s Ribn project with Manuel Tur. The soulful piano interplay is pure Detroit meets Essen, and combines to produce one of the year’s standout moments.

Next up is Wait State, a bouncing groove featuring Langenberg’s trademark crisp drums and percussion, and a fantastic revolutionary vocal sample.

Sun and Sorrow is on a more driving tip, but maintains a familiar minor key motor city deepness. Also present here as a digital bonus is Sun and Sorrow Dub, an essential rework and a dub-wise dancefloor excursion for the heads.

Schwarz’ original is a vocal-based house-anthem, which emerges from his musical finesse to gasp for air in form of a folk-inspired hookline. After a percussive break the record's to-the-floor efficiency is unleashed. This is where Carl Craig's remix begins. From dreamy to sawing synth-lines, he utilizes the original's massive potential - to 12 minutes.

The first 500 copies will be pressed on 180g white vinyl!

As a special gimmick, we release Carl Craig's instrumental mix on a seperate vinyl which will be limited to 500 copies.
