The debut ep from “Cidic Sol” The Dialect EP delivers a delectable fusion of deep house beats layered with the moving and melodic spoken words uttered from a regional dialect of Ghana. This is not just your average spin on tribal house or afro beats, this is a progression of culture, art and sensation forged into a movement of forward thinking new music.

01 – Efia
The opening track succeeds in expertly intertwining emotive vocals and alluring culminating in a mesmerizing track that is guaranteed to move. The track builds with layered synth hits, a stabbing bassline and a variety of weaving vocal inserts that provide the track with depth and emotion. As the track peaks the hypnotic chords entice you further whilst the pounding kick and cutting hats keep the track moving – poignant floor filler. 

02- Poeke 
This track features Cidic Sol’s intoxicating vocal at the forefront of the track. As he retells his story of love and lust the track builds to incorporate a layered and buoyant blend of percussive hits and drums, indiscriminate synth and a shuffling hat which dares you to not move! As you progress through the track you are grabbed by the lead vocal and pulsing bass which guide the track forward. Poeke succeeds in delivering a percussive house story which is skillfully narrated by Cidic Sol. FANTASTIC!

CIDIC SOL

Born in Ghana was a young artist who had a deep love and affection for music and all that it had to offer. Henry Lawson went on to perform his own songs backed by old hip hop tracks which steered from a boarding school fresher’s initiation in sixth form whilst reading sciences in the Volta region of Ghana.
Performing at the National theatre, fashion shows and Guinness sponsored talent shows earned him management, although short lived due to the call of education.

Life really started in London for Henry Lawson as he hooked up with various artists and producers heightening his senses and homing in on his hidden love of something different. The love of Hip Hop, Reggae RnB & Nu soul was soon to be fashioned into his own interpretations, “Omar” became a major inspiration to Henry Lawson when his mum caught the music video, “There’s nothing like this” on television and called his attention to it. 
Whilst living in the UK he started to explore broken beats, acid jazz, garage, nu jazz, deep house and soulful house, still intrigued by sounds with which he grew up on such as Wulome, Nat Brew, Oheneba Kissi, Osibisa, Pat Thomas, Senior Eddie Donkor, his plan was to create a unique sound worthy of someone or something special …… CIDIC SOL

Cidic Sol always had a taste for something different, listening to Benji B’s radio show on BBC’s 1 Xtra called Deviation; he was hooked and became a regular listener. Travelling to the nightlife of East London he found Gramophone to The Jazz Cafe. The musical journey continued and he later became influenced by the likes of Flying Lotus, Phlash (Phil Asher) and friends, Funkineven, Cid Rim, James Blake, Domu, Floating Points, Hudson Mohawke, Bugz-in-the-Attic, Jazzanova and many more…

With an ever evolving music industry that is now becoming more accessible the plan was to learn develop and move forward. Writing and recording was next on his list working with a few different engineers and producers, however it had not always been easy being understood creatively.  It was inevitable that he would get drawn to a producer by the name of Patric Mclean (Dark Chambers), at Brikworx Studios; the home of CS Gas Records. Together they embarked on developing and the production of Cidic-Sol’s EP entitled Dialect, merging his mother tongue and the journey of his influences so far.

As Cidic Sol plans his 1st ep surely his album is set to follow…
