When France-born DJ and producer, Willis Anne isn’t finessing his spellbinding live sets and performing them in his home country of Germany, he’s curating club nights and releases for his own brand, LAN. A true hardware junky, from his productions you can expect complex polyrhythms, leftfield sound design and textural complexity. Whilst these off-kilter elements can all be found in Movement EP, it also features some more easily recognisable rhythms borrowed from styles like juke and breaks. Imagine a musical lovechild between Azu Tiwaline and Kush Jones. What more could you want?

For the 40th release on All Centre, label co-head Simkin provides three new cuts on his second record of the year, Entity.

Beatless ambient opener Sinks In eases us in with whirring field recordings, glitched choral vocals and sublime pads, immediately setting the atmosphere for the record. Throughout, later elements of the EP are teased amongst disorentating sound design and soaring chords.

The end of the track leads directly into low-tempo stormer Entity. Alien-sounding vocals give way to a heavy, low-slung drum pattern before a dubbed-out transition introduces the track’s bone-rattling bassline. Later, the arrangement eventually breaks back down amongst glitchy arpeggiated synths, before further ramping up the intensity with the reintroduction of booming subs, punctuated by a rising air raid siren.

Finally, Click! lifts the tempo, landing in an upbeat, electro-inspired groove. Short snippets of vocals are teased amongst understated pads before a low, gliding bassline propels us forward. Angelic, autotuned vocals and chopped and rearranged amongst echoing chords and soaring lead synths, the elements weaving amongst each other as the track progresses.

Entity is available across all platforms on the 5th of August.
