Remember @losscom, the awesome IDM producer from Seattle who brilliantly remixed 'Wildfire Part 2' last year? Well, I'm very pleased to announce you that I decided to strike back by remixing his iconic track 'On Their Way'.

I won't tell you how many hours I spent on this remix, you wouldn't believe it. I don't blame you, actually I can't even believe it myself. Thing is that the sounds losscom provided me were so insane I couldn't stop tweaking them.

I produced so much material actually that my main challenge was to select the most interesting parts, and merge them into a single, cohesive track. Result is a 8 minutes-long journey full of acid patterns, glitched samples, and detuned synths. Hope you enjoy.

Hi everyone. Today I'm glad to present you the eleventh of the 'Live Material Series'. Wildfire Part 11 (Hardcore Mix) is my ultimate secret weapon when playing live. I don't play it often, but it has never ever left my setlist.

My approach when making this track was similar to the one I had when making Wildfire Part 3 (Drum & Bass Mix): isolate the essence of the original track, and adapt it to a completely different genre that wasn't represented anywhere else in the liveset. I chose hardcore for two reasons: 1) to create some direct, obvious connection between the Wildfire sound and the hardcore music that is a significant part of my influences (thanks to free parties and Thunderdome compilations, essentially), and 2) because the acid pattern of the original track was working surprisingly well at higher speed. As a consequence, the track switched from 137 to... 166 BPM. 

Rapidly, Wildfire Part 11 (Hardcore Mix) became my 'encore track'. Typically, it's the track I'm trying to negotiate about with the promoter of the gig or the owner of the place late at night in front of an audience that is way too excited to go back home. I'm happy to finally release it online, and I hope that it will bring back some strong memories to some of you.

Salut tout le monde. Aujourd'hui je suis heureux de vous présenter le 11ème morceau de la 'Live Material Series'. Wildfire Part 11 (Hardcore Mix) est l'arme secrète ultime de mon live. Je ne la joue pas souvent, mais elle ne quitte jamais ma setlist.

Mon approche au moment de faire ce morceau est assez similaire à celle que j'ai employée au moment de faire Wildfire Part 3 (Drum & Bass Mix): isoler l'essence du morceau, et adapter cette essence à un genre complètement différent et qui n'est représenté nulle part ailleurs dans le live. J'ai opté pour le hardcore pour deux raisons : 1) pour établir une sorte de connexion directe entre le son de Wildfire et le son hardcore qui constitue une part importante de mes influences (en particulier grâce aux frees et aux compilations Thunderdome), et 2) parce que je me suis aperçu que le pattern acid du morceau original fonctionnait super bien en mode accéléré. Ainsi, le morceau est passé de 137 à... 166 BPM.

Rapidement, Wildfire Part 11 (Hardcore Mix) est devenu mon 'morceau de rappel'. Typiquement, c'est le morceau au sujet duquel je me retrouve à essayer de négocier avec le promoteur de la soirée ou le propriétaire des lieux à une heure avancée de la nuit et devant un public beaucoup trop excité pour rentrer à la maison. Je suis content de rendre ce morceau enfin disponible sur internet, et j'espère qu'il réveillera des souvenirs forts chez certaines et certains d'entre vous.

Hi everyone. Today I'm glad to present you the twelfth of the 'Live Material Series'. Wildfire Part 12 (Fast Recovery Mix) was the conclusion of the first iterations of my liveset. Initially, my liveset featured the twelve Wildfire tracks I shared with you during the past few months, from Part 1 to Part 12. It was only then that I started switching the order of the tracks, finding better and most interesting transitions, and ultimately adding new tracks that were not based on tracks coming from the Wildfire album, like my remix of Calling Marian's Pisces for instance.

Hence, Wildfire Part 12 (Fast Recovery Mix) was conceived as the final piece of a whole. As it was following Wildfire Part 11 (Hardcore Mix) - the track I released two weeks ago - I wanted it to be able to drastically cool down the atmosphere. I also wanted it to be a synthesis of the whole liveset, a little like the final scene of an old-school blokbuster where all the characters would be reunited, and would be smiling to each other. That's why the track features all of the emblematic Wildfire elements: the acid sounds, the punchy drums, the strings, the melancholic synths, and the vocal samples. The interesting thing is that all these elements gave birth to some sweet and happy vibe I didn't planned at all. Maybe it's because I had in mind the smiles from the characters in the movie.

Ainsi, Wildfire Part 12 (Fast Recovery Mix) a été conçu comme la dernière pièce d'un tout. Comme ce morceau suivait Wildfire Part 11 (Hardcore Mix) - le morceau que j'ai sorti il y a deux semaines - je voulais qu'il soit capable de faire considérablement baisser la température. Je voulais aussi qu'il constitue une sorte de synthèse de l'ensemble du live, un peu comme la scène finale d'un blockbuster à l'ancienne dans laquelle tous les personnages seraient réunis et s'échangeraient des sourires. C'est pourquoi le morceau contient tous les éléments emblématiques de Wildfire : les sons acid, les percussions punchy, les cordes, les synthés mélancoliques, et les samples vocaux. Ce qui est intéressant, c'est qu'une vibe douce et heureuse a émergé de tous ces éléments, ce qui n'était absolument pas prévu. Peut-être est-ce dû au fait que j'avais en tête les sourires des personnages sus-mentionnés.

Quarantine Sonic Squad is a collective uniting many electronic producers and musical activists in France (and beyond), born under the epidemic era and brought together by Tim Karbon. Its aim is to create a musical corpus that has its roots in today's electronic / club music phenomenon, regardless of genres and genders attributions of any kind.

QSS VOL. 2 "LOCKDOWN COMBAT" is our new militant album, following the initial "DAL de Vivre" project which was thought as a musical tool to gather funds and waving public attention upon bad housing problematics in France, increased by the COVID-19 pandemic. After uniting our energies to work with the DAL - Droit Au Logement ("right to housing") french association, which is helping oppressed and homeless people to get safe spaces to live in, we are now joining forces with the BAAM, another solidarity collective based in Paris. They are providing to all refugees & migrants a juridic, cultural and social support through french classes and administrative help among many other things. They have also created a LGBTQIA+ safe-space for asylum seekers facing daily homophobia or transphobia.

This 49-tracks album is our personal tribute to all the people threatened by governmental actions with the hunting of refugees, to all victims of police brutality & systemic racism. Spreading sonic love to all our brothers and sisters who face state violence and neoliberal laws that place economic growth of the few above the right to live with dignity for all human beings. The whole piece will be exclusively downloadable on Bandcamp for a low price, with all funds going to the BAAM to help them on militant and activism aspects.
