Formed in 2002 in Jakarta, White Shoes and The Couples Company blend 1960’s Burt Bacharach-inspired  melodies with winsome indie pop to create a truly unique sound that bring us back to the 1970’s or even to the 1930’s, with charming, distinct melodies and orchestration. While their muses come from blasts from the pasts, their sound is original, fresh and fun. Their story and whole aesthetic is so endearing that it shines through in their music. Singing in both English and Indonesian, this sextet makes pop songs that you'd be excused for thinking had come straight off the soundtrack of Katamari Damacy, or a tender Sonny Chiba movie. But while the Indonesian lyrics of most White Shoes songs may limit comprehension, the band’s effervescent music is crafty in its simplicity and has universal appeal. Hooky, catchy pop on the surface, White Shoes’ songs also incorporate tricky time signatures, swinging solo breaks, lush orchestrations, vintage keyboard tones, for a breathtaking live performance.

Single Pertama dari mini album "White Shoes & The Couples Company Menyanyikan Lagu2 Daerah". Lagu ini adalah lagu permainan klasik melayu berjudul “Tam Tam Buku” yang dinyanyikan dengan dialek Betawi, namun pada masa kejayaannya, lagu tradisional ini biasa dinyanyikan dengan berbagai bahasa daerah. Seperti dalam bahasa Sunda lagu ini lebih dikenal dengan judul “Trang Trang Kolantrang” atau “Chock Chock Kundong” di dataran Malaysia.

MINI ALBUM "WHITE SHOES & THE COUPLES COMPANY MENYANYIKAN LAGU2 DAERAH"

Mini album "White Shoes & The Couples Company Menyanyikan Lagu2 Daerah" dirilis pertama kali dalam Edisi Istimewa. Hanya dicetak terbatas sejumlah 1000 keping. Bernomor seri. Distempel dari nomer 0001 sampai dengan 1000. Mini album ini diproduksi dan diedarkan oleh demajors dalam bentuk cd dengan harga Rp 35.000,-

Rilis mulai hari Senin, 20 Mei 2013.


Produser rekaman adalah Aradea Barandana, David Tarigan, dan White Shoes & The Couples Company. Mini Album ini berisikan 5 lagu yaitu: Jangi Janger, Tjangkurileung, Te O Rendang O, Lembe-Lembe, Tam Tam Buku.
Secara khusus sebagian besar proses perekaman mini album ini dilakukan di studio Lokananta, Solo secara live pada tanggal 25 – 28 Oktober 2012 yang lalu. Ini adalah tribut kami untuk masa kejayaan musik pop Indonesia dan tentunya, Lokananta. Kumpulan rekaman ini ibarat buku jurnal pengalaman kami dalam menghidupi roh era emas musik pop Indonesia. Ada karya legendaris seniman Pasundan Mang Koko Koswara di “Tjangkurileung”, lagu permainan klasik Melayu “Tam Tam Buku” alias “Trang Trang Kolantrang” atau “Chock Chock Kundong”, serenada Amboina legendaris gaya Broery & the Pros di “Lembe Lembe”, serta lagu pop berbahasa Maluku yang dibesut serta dilantunkan oleh sosok yang terlupakan, Max Lesiangi, favorit terbaru kami.

Tentang Cita - White Shoes & The Couples Company

This track first came out as one of the song in "Siaga Bencana" compilation album in 2008, along with other 14 bands. The album released by LIPI, Lembaga Ilmu Pengetahuan Indonesia(Indonesian Institute Of Sience) and Electified Records. But in 2009 this song released by White Shoes & The Couples Company & The Daging Tumbuh Comics as a bonus along with other 3 songs in "Senja Menggila" Art Book. This song is also available in Album Vakansi with upgraded mixing version, Album Vakansi released in 2010 by PuraPura Records and distributed by Demajors.
