It's better explained in the books. Going back more than a few hours could result in a catastrophe. The Harry Potter wiki pages about the Time Turner and the "Un-born" explain it if you're interessted.

Dumbledore knew Lockhart was full of shit. Lockhart found wizards who had an adventure, asked them questions about it and then erased their minds only to write books about his magical adventures that he didn't actually have. Dumbledore knew some of those wizards that got their mind erased and wanted to keep a close eye on Lockhart or something. How could he have known that the school would live through a Horxrux/Basilisk problem?

That's how they made it look in the movies. It's different in the books. Obviously both of those schools have male and female students. Check out the wiki page on the wizarding schools all over the HP world.

I kind of like having more movies, you know? Covers more ground from the books.

And season 7 and season 6 and season 5 too. I'm begging you to just think for a moment about Game of Thrones. It sucked for way longer that that.

It's because they need to really want it and have the strength to do it. Moody explains it in the 4th books. Something along the lines of "You could throw these unforgivable spells at me and I wouldn't even get a bloody nose"

I personally feel like Goblet of Fire is the best. Solely because instead of having little brats running around now we have teens and we actually get to experience how Hogwarts is without Voledmort hanging over their heads until the end.
