Alpi udibili - CIPRA Podcast (it,en)

Menschen zusammenbringen, vielfältige Klimaaktivitäten in den Alpen aufzeigen und zu lokalem Handeln inspirieren. Am Weltumwelttag am 5. Juni 2021 wird der Schweizer Vorsitz der Alpenkonvention in Zusammenarbeit mit dem Ständigen Sekretariat der Alpenkonvention die erste Ausgabe der Klimastunde starten. Für diese Veranstaltung werden Partner aus allen Alpenländern lokale Veranstaltungen zum Thema Klimaaktion in den Alpen organisieren.

Radio BUH präsentiert zusammen mit der Allianz in den Alpen die Klimastunde auf Radio BUH.

#64 (en) "Jump into the unknown" - Climate friendly travelling with YOALIN

Many mountain regions in the Alps are affected by out-migration. However, climate change is also causing some people to migrate - at least temporarily - from the city to the mountains, as an Italian research project shows. We interviewed Andrea Membretti from the University of Turin, who coordinated the project called MICLIMI. 

Prolonged heatwaves, air pollution and new, climate-related diseases: Increasingly, people's own health is at stake, as the climate is changing dramatically for example in the northern Italian padan plane, also known as Po valley around Turin, Milan and Verona. But to which extent is climate change really increasing the likelihood of people moving from urban regions to mountain regions? This is what the research project MiCliMi tried to find out. It was launched by the italian branch of the European Climate Pact Ambassadors and completed in 2023. Andrea Membretti coordinated the project. He teaches sociology at the university of Turin. What role could climate change play in future for migration into alpine regions and why this is also a question of social justice – about this and more we talked to Andrea Membretti.

How can the legal framework alpine convention help guiding visitors of alpine regions in order to preserve nature? This is what we talk about in this episode with Wolfger Mayrhofer, Deputy Secretary General of the Alpine Convention.

In this episode, we also learn more about the genesis and the background of the tourism protocol of the Alpine Convention, which was signed in 1998 by all states among the Alpine Arc as well as the EU.

With our speciAlps podcast series, we want to gather knowledge and contribute to the exchange of experiences across the Alps.

On the occasion of its tenth birthday, the CIPRA Youth Council explored the theme of quality of life from a youth perspective. On 1 July 2023, the members organised a podcast workshop, followed by a panel discussion with Joanna Kornacki from the Austrian Alpine Association, Axel Giottonini from the Youth Forum of the Swiss Working Group for Mountain Regions and Tom Van de Plassche from “Protect Our Winters Italy”. After the panel session, the participants shared their opinions on quality of life in the Alps in a recorded group discussion. This special episode provides a unique perspective on the views and opinions of the younger generation living in the Alpine region.

#68 (en) Should I stay or should I go? Young people and quality of life in the Alps | CYC podcast

Environmental protection, car-free mobility and work-life balance: These are the political demands of young people from Germany, France, Slovenia and Liechtenstein. In this episode we discuss the learnings, surprises and demands at the end of our "Alpine Compass" project.

CIPRA Slovenia (lead partner), CIPRA International, CIPRA Germany and CIPRA France analysed in the project, what constitutes quality of life for young people aged 16-30 from Slovenia, Germany, France and Liechtenstein. The Alpine-wide results can be found in the dossier "Quality of Life and Young People in the Alps". The project was funded by Erasmus+.

#72 (en) Young demands for a good life in the Alps | "Alpine Compass"

As part of the Via Alpina Youth project, we carried out an international training for youth workers on inclusion and sustainability in Wildhaus, Switzerland. We had the opportunity to get to know participants from all over the Alps, presenting their good practices. 
In this episode of the CIPRA podcast, we explore the topics of hiking and inclusion with Marjeta Čič - Deputy Head of the Slovenian Alpine Association's Board, InPlaninec. A project that helps people with dissabilities to enjoy the mountains.

Was passiert bei 1,5 Grad globaler Erwärmung im Vergleich zu vorindustriellen Zeiten? Diese Frage beantwortet der Weltklimarat in seinem aktuellen Bericht. In den Alpen liegt der Temperaturanstieg allerdings jetzt schon bei zwei Grad. Das bestätigt Reto Knutti, Professor am Institut für Atmosphäre und Klima an der ETH Zürich, Mitautor von zwei Berichten des Weltklimarats. «Wir gehen in den neuesten Szenarien für die Schweiz von 2,5 bis 4,5 Grad Erwärmung bis Mitte des Jahrhunderts aus. Das sind natürlich sehr grosse Veränderungen.» Die Auswirkungen seien vielfältig. So werden 90 Prozent der Alpengletscher verschwinden, auch mit Folgen für deren Abflüsse. Man müsse zwar nicht mit Trinkwasserknappheit rechnen, aber «wenn die Temperaturen und die Niederschlagsveränderungen im Sommer in diese Richtung gehen, und das zeigen die Szenarien, dann werden wir eben nicht mehr die Möglichkeit haben, alles nach Belieben zu bewässern». Auch niedrig gelegene Wintersportorte seien gefährdet: «Eigentlich müsste man sagen: Alles, was unter 1’500 Metern ist, ist langfristig nicht mehr zu bewirtschaften.» Abgesehen davon könnten sich wegen des auftauenden Permafrosts Steinschläge und Hangrutschungen häufen.
