I took the vocal sample from D-Xtreme opening the now an infamous "thanksgrooving" set at the Abyss back in 93, an event where I experienced one of the best clubbing nights of my life. When that set was posted last week I knew I had to grab that vocal and throw it in a track. This is the result after messing with it for a couple hours this week. It's just for fun and meant to be a bit tongue in cheek. I also pulled a few samples out of the dj set too. See if you can spot them. Long live the Abyss!!

How Many People Out There Are ... [Right On Mix]

Lulu Rouge's "The Sound Is The Drum" is probably be one of the finest if not *the* finest albums of 2013 with both tracks featuring Fanney Osk on vocals being my favourite, and it's hard to improve upon something you like this much. And yet, adding a little bit of that Elite Force magic (plus the usual tweaking here and there by yours truly) certainly pushes (ha!) the original track in a completely new direction while retaining its original awesomeness.

I was especially happy with how the bass line of the first and the kick drum of the latter perfectly fitted with each other.

This was the first time I entered the studio to work on an official remix for a proper label! Man I was so pumped! I had little if any studio experience and was wide eyed and full of questions. I can’t tell you how much I learnt watching Sameer (Pocket) work. Many of the things he employed during our sessions together have stayed with me to this day. I probably annoyed him with my million and one questions (ha ha) but thanks for the amazing kick start Sameer! It was a good combination actually, both Sameer and Ken had their eye on the production side of things while my mind kept coming back to the dancefloor and how the crowd would react to the track at the gigs I played. But it wasn’t just me who played this track, DJ’s like Fat Boy Slim also dropped it and people would often text me from London saying such and such DJ ‘just dropped your remix of La La Land at Fabric’! It totally made my young producers day! I rinsed this remix, and have immense pride hearing it all over again, 14 years later! Enjoy!
