A quarter into the century, Swedish producer-DJ-song writer Johan Blende has found his passion for making music again. With a record out last year on Sweden label Studio Barnhus, forthcoming releases on some of Europe’s leading electronic music record labels and more material in the bag than ever before, 2025 is oﬀ to a bright start. During the 2010s he was enjoying success releasing records mainly on Belgian disco label Eskimo Recordings collaborating with singers Mattie Safer, Gustaph, Kelli-Leigh,

Mickael Karkousse & Rebecca Scheja, along with remixing a variety of acts such as Lana Del Rey, Ms Dynamite & DJ Fresh, Korn, Skrillex, Goose and Klaxons, producing for bands like Fenech Soler & Le Galaxie and playing records in nightclubs across Europe, the US and Asia. To follow, a long overdue break was needed in order to explore things

outside music further and to try and get his inspiration back, a break which is now coming to an end.

Born in Stockholm he currently resides in warmer climates down south in Athens, Greece. The long love for all things disco is still there to be heard but the new material is also expanding on his more eclectic & electronic music roots whilst also slowly getting back into his first love in music craftsmanship that dates back all the way to the mid ‘90s

- DJ-ing.

When I first explored the label called Controlla, I was both shocked and surprised, and couldn't imagine such a thing existed in the audio-visual universe. Some years passed, and while it turned out we're running a Mexican-music-outlet Ali X suddenly approached Complaint with crazy track ideas. Now we're talking.

Public Possession's Aussie non-professional smoke-machine @djedenburns delivered an ass-shaking, minimalistic version of the title track, and the game is just on. Maybe sounds annoying for the first listen, but when you realize the geniusity of this dude, you'll spin his remix on repeat.

Franck Roger has long been integral to deep house. A dedicated crate digger and master beat maker, he's been defining the genre for more than 20 years with timeless tracks on his own Home Invasion as well as cult outlets like Nu Groove Records and more. He has made an art of deepness with supple grooves and tactile synths that are meticulously crafted and perfectly reduced. He has already served up his ‘Can U Believe EP’ and a remix of Nightsteppaz on this label this year and now backs it up with another standout offering. 
 
Opener ‘The Truth’ distils everything that makes Roger’s sound so compelling — sultry spoken word, warm, late-night pads, and elegantly slinky drums that ease their way into both body and mind. It’s a masterclass in mid-tempo house, elevated by rich, immersive sound design and an emotional undercurrent that lingers long after the dancing stops. ‘The Calling’ follows with elastic rhythms and a celestial blend of painterly pads and twinkling melodies. There’s a spaciousness to the mix that invites you in deeper, while the rolling kicks keep hips engaged and hearts lifted. Closing cut ‘The Passage’ shifts into a denser, more grounded groove. Its weighty kicks and textured toms build a persuasive rhythm while dreamy pads and drifting synth motifs swirl above.
