This cover took a ridiculous amount of time to record. I recorded the percussion parts years ago when I was living in my previous place. Then we moved, then I started to learn this on bass, foolishly believing this would be an easy starting point, then I bought this much better microphone and after all this time, here we are. I'm really happy to get this one out of my system!

With enough reverb, patience, lung volume and overlays, you can make a pipe organ out of a melodica!

This is my humble attempt at recreating this magnificent video game theme from the legend himself, Koji Kondo. The masterpiece it's from was released on Nintendo 64, meaning the original track is heavily synthesized, which does not allow it to tap its full potential. I wish an official re-recording happened someday.

I made several significant changes to the song. Mainly, only used the chorus once instead of between all verses, and I kept it in the minor key. Basically I wanted to remove all of the "comedic" parts to see how this would have sounded as a regular dark folk song.

All in all, I changed the entire arrangement of the song, and its tempo, to fit that feel I was going for.

I had A LOT of fun recording the vocal tracks for this thing. The idea was to stick to 6 tracks, to pay homage to the amazing cohesion of this band's six members. I wanted to make it sound like 6 guys having fun playing music in a room. No reverb was added to this whatsoever. You could put 6 clones of me in a room and they would sound exactly like this.
