Federico Epis’s career has all the trappings of a great aspiration story, where he has captured the attention of clubbers with a sense of imagination and dedication to underground music; winning him recognition the world over and attracting support ranging from heavyweights Sasha and Dave Seaman to Tiesto and Hernan Cattaneo.

Raised on a framework filled with the electronic sounds of the 90’s in South America it was a natural progression for Federico to pursue a career in music. Having immersed his musical palette for almost a decade later, his DJing career was given a kick-start with his successful Frisky Radio Show being a monthly exhibit of his flourishing house style.

Always avoiding drowning in excess, Federico performances draw from a rich variety of elements—those glistening runs and those swollen chords, he’s never afraid to pile his set’s heavy chugging pace with extra flowing layers of heartfelt drama. Sasha’s prestigious BBC Essential Mix showcased Federico’s early “Brasilia” track and while catching the attention of peers and labels such as Dave Seaman’s Audio Therapy, it quickly became apparent that the aspiring Uruguay dj had the ability to do much much more. Federico rode the Beatport charts high with “Brasilia” being one of Audio Therapy’s biggest selling singles to date,

His Global Underground releases ”Is Time”, “Simple” and “Sweet Girl” that follow both serve as reminders that Federico’s unfolding inspirational curve rarely gets in the way of him rocking a dance floor. 
Over the course of his exciting career, Federico has traveled the world over playing alongside the industry’s top DJ’s such as Paolo Mojo, Jim Rivers  Anthony Pappa,the latter of which quickly signed him and his track “Mare” in 2009 to his Red Light District label. As resident for Renaissance’s South American Tour, Federico has to date been delivering a smooth flow of vivacious deepness and uplifting progressive house.

Through releases on Global Underground, Audio Therapy and Groove Collections, Federico Epis has been exploring his love of liberal progressive -laced beats, quietly amassing an impressive discography. 
Most recently, one of his latest diamonds out of studio work has been the bootleg of Big Pink “Velvet”, featured by no less than Pete Tong as the “One More Tune” on the infamous Essential Selection show on BBC’s Radio 1, a track that caught the immediate attention of all the usual suspects around the world.

Whether it be ambient and beatless or a reflection of the current and past house movement, Federico can inject his studio output with a sassy level of news sounds; evident in the 2009 signing of “Shout” to Spanish house guru’s Wally Lopez’s Factomania which gained immediate support from Marco Corolla to Mark Knight.
With energetic tribal tones and almost epic textures his music and sets continue to have the depth and charisma you'd expect from giants of the scene, Federico’s sharp rise to the stage combined with the consistency of quality tracks, makes the prospect of forthcoming releases all the more mouth-watering.

Slam and Obscure Shape & SHDW step up for the second wave of Radio Slave ‘Grindhouse’ remixes on Rekids this February.

One of techno’s most iconic records, ‘Grindhouse’ first appeared on Radio Slave’s ‘No Sleep’ series before spawning multiple remixes from Dubfire, Danton Eeprom, Terence Fixmer and Nic Fanciulli. Kick-started by Len Faki, last year saw the announcement of a series of remixes with more to come from Vatican Shadow, Markus Suckut, Lady Starlight and Special Request.

Complete with relentless kicks, sinister drones and industrial elements, Part Two is not for the faint-hearted. Starting with Slam, the Soma bosses keep things dark, with rattling top lines and echoing effects resulting in a truly decadent techno floor destroyer.

Following a remix of Radio Slave’s ‘Vision’ in 2016, Obscure Shape & SHDW’s abilities are held in high regard by the Rekids owner and their rework of ‘Grindhouse’ reinforces why. Complete with a rumbling low- end, metallic melodies and soaring synths, the From Another Mind founders continue to establish themselves as two of techno’s most exciting names.

Slam present a brand new series of releases inspired by crate digging through their very own record collection entitled ‘Archive Edits’.

After last years Soma Track Series came to a close, the prolific Glaswegian duo have now tapped into their immense and diverse record collection, carefully selecting specific tracks from their archives with a series of reworks and re-edits that have sound tracked their dynamic DJ sets of late.
 
Providing some insight into the vision for the project, Slam’s Stuart McMillan said, 'The tracks chosen are not only ones that we think have stood the test of time but are ones that we might not always have necessarily played at the time and somehow have a relevance now. Some are well known with Techno enthusiasts, some are not. We've collected a lot of records throughout the years and it has been insightful to look back and choose certain tracks, not only to gain inspiration from, but also to create something new and add elements that make them work for us in our DJ sets now".

Kicking off this EP is the title track ‘Mutant’ which creates a big chunky affair full of dark beats with smooth percussion on the foreground. A very nice and intense production with smooth string getting along. ‘Twisted’ follows, featuring stabbing and rolling deep basslines mixed up with nice and melodic riffs. Can be better than that? Three excellent producers getting along and they produce two techno anthems for Codeworks. Enjoy</p>

Advent – A coming, or an arrival, a coming into being or use. 

Quite an appropriate name for Cisco Ferreira, a man who has played a big part in the creation and development of Techno from the very beginning of this genre’s history. Indeed, his Techno CV is the stuff of legend. Cisco was producing Techno and performing live Techno shows years before the rest of the world had even heard of the genre. He released his first track in 1988, was a pioneer of the Live PA (or Live Public Address – performing Techno live in front of an audience using electronic music gear), and, if all that wasn’t enough, he even worked as the sound engineer on some of Derrick May’s, Adonis & Fingers Inc’s recording sessions! 

The list goes on, and so does Cisco. Unlike other Techno pioneers from the early years, Cisco continues to produce with as much passion and frequency as he did back in the day. His releases on Labels Like Tresor, Rotation, Electrix, Kanzleramt, Dj Gigolos, Pure Plastic, Synewave plus many more is just another example of his ongoing pursuit to keep making music and pushing Techno to new boundaries. 

Cisco was born to Portuguese parents on the island of Madeira (Portugal). His family moved to London (1975) when he was five years old, setting the stage for his musical career. While at Paddington College (1986) in West London, he studied sound engineering and secured a job after graduation as an assistant sound engineer at ZOLOU Then later WALL Studios.  

At this period is when he really started to learn about Sound & Production, his 1st main recording sessions as an engineer were rock & “Inde” based bands & the studio owners being in successful rock bands. Matt Dangerfield & John Payne “ASIA” this 1st step was a start in learning about balancing & mixing down the rock way, which had a lot of intense & Raw energy especially on drums & Guitars.. 

Other bands Cisco did sessions for: P.I.L. (John Lydon - sex pistols) – Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) – That petrol emotion. Then Later Pop, Dance, Soul & reggae groups like: Wild Bunch (Nelly hopper & Massive Attack) – Marco Pirroni (Adam & the ants) - Maxi Priest – Sly Dunbar (Sly & Robbie) – Loose Ends – Cheryl Lynn… 

1987 Cisco began going to clubs and learning about this new thing called Acid House, which was spreading like crazy throughout London’s underground scene, culminating in the famous “Summer of Love” in 1988, the genre’s golden period. 

Around this time, a record label called, Jack Trax, “One of the 1st to release Acid House, House & techno in UK” moved in next door and began using the same studio for recording sessions, with Cisco as the engineer working with Fingers Inc, Adonis, Marshall Jefferson & Derrick May. Cisco released his first record in 1988 on Ferrari records (R&S records) Then later “Cisco Ferreira” EP on Fragile. 

His first big break came in 1994, when he and fellow Londonite Colin McBean (a.k.a. Mr. G) were brought on by Internal Records to help co-produce a group called Salt Tank. A record contract with Internal/FFRR soon followed, committing The Advent to 12 EP’s and 3 albums.

Today, The Advent goes on just as Cisco Ferreira. While he has had a long history with tons of accomplishments to hang his hat on, he continues to make history. The Advent is fulfilling Cisco’s vision as much as ever. He is busy touring as both a DJ and a live performer, producing for numerous labels, and running his own Techno imprint, Kombination Research. 

As Cisco moves forward, striving to fulfill the ambitious goals he has set one can look back at his storied past and see how he has come full circle… The Saga continues.
