The Advent

The time has finally come to have Kwartz in this house again and we couldn’t be more satisfied with the quality of the work he has delivered. It is clear that his new residency at the best techno club on the planet, Berghain, has helped his inspiration multiply exponentially and this is definitely reflected in this brand new work that leaves us wanting more.

Four slices of techno with all the letters, which define exactly what the genre should be without seasonal additives, dynamic electronic dance music, without an expiration date, which could be signed thirty years ago or in the distant future.

Mario does not entertain himself with extreme speeds, nor with predictable developments, nor with pre-cooked sounds. His approach to musical creation is slow and artisanal, meditating and maturing each of the ingredients he uses, without fear of being left out of the media radar.

This entire procedure is reflected in the excellent result, The Golden Hour is a perfect example of everything said above. Strong and firm rhythms, constantly evolving arrangements, elaborate sound design and a firm dance attitude.

Enter The Zone turns the rhythm towards broken bass drums, slightly presses the accelerator and introduces disturbing atmospheres combined with organic percussion details in a masterful way. A true catalyst for expert mixers.

On side B, Under Control once again breaks tradition with a broken, hypnotic and continuous rhythm, a first-rate brain driller for the club's peak moments.

The EP ends with Animal Instinct, which does not lower the intensity one bit, adding an overwhelming rhythm with dynamic percussive details, with no room for rest, perfect for the dancers to travel to unknown dimensions.

BLUR XP are an underground techno brand and label from Paris who have a solid ethos. Their warehouse events bring to light emerging artists and create experiences through dedication and musical exploration to like-minded enthusiasts.

The first two releases were two quality compilations with artists like Franco Rossi, LUAR, Jacom, Marcelo Antonio, Mode_1, Jack Fresia, and many more.

Kicking things off by welcoming FVKS with the first EP release, the German artist showcases four new original works following contributions to Coyu's Suara, Mikro's PRTL WRX, OECUS, Synergie, and Duplicity.

Three forces have come together to form the &#8220;Brick House&#8221; EP on Kombination Research, which serves as a testament to the grind and menace that emanates from these three collective personalities.Relentless beeps fire away from a rollercoaster of industrial rhythms, while frantic sonars rear their distorted head above the crushing drums. The ride continues into the AD_IN remix of Pt. 2, where mangled chords make their appearance and dissonant effects are sprinkled over the rolling affair.

The Advent & Industrialyzer & Jason Fernandes - Brick House (A.D.I.N Mix) [Kombination Research]

Kombination Research presents the portuguese producer A.Paul.&#8216;Other Worlds&#8217; is an epic techno journey, styled mix of a classic bassline and hammering bass drums. The releases closes with a massive remix by the label boss The Advent and his partner in crime Industrialyzer, with slamming bass and stepping rhythm throughout.

The label boss The Advent teams up with Spiriakos and they deliver a great release for Kombination Research. The original mix of 'Point Of No Return' is a smooth techno production that builds early on with some nice beats and some subtle effects. Filterheadz deliver their remix on the flip and maintain some of the quirky vibe in the drum work.

The label bosses The Advent and Industrialyzer team up with Hugo Paixao and they are releasing an excellent EP on Codeworks. Kicking off this EP is the title track ‘Mutant’ which creates a big chunky affair full of dark beats with smooth percussion on the foreground. A very nice and intense production with smooth string getting along. ‘Twisted’ follows, featuring stabbing and rolling deep basslines mixed up with nice and melodic riffs. Can be better than that? Three excellent producers getting along and they produce two techno anthems for Codeworks. Enjoy

The Advent & Industrialyzer & Hugo Paixao - Mutant (Original Mix) [CodeWorks]

Advent – A coming, or an arrival, a coming into being or use. 

Quite an appropriate name for Cisco Ferreira, a man who has played a big part in the creation and development of Techno from the very beginning of this genre’s history. Indeed, his Techno CV is the stuff of legend. Cisco was producing Techno and performing live Techno shows years before the rest of the world had even heard of the genre. He released his first track in 1988, was a pioneer of the Live PA (or Live Public Address – performing Techno live in front of an audience using electronic music gear), and, if all that wasn’t enough, he even worked as the sound engineer on some of Derrick May’s, Adonis & Fingers Inc’s recording sessions! 

The list goes on, and so does Cisco. Unlike other Techno pioneers from the early years, Cisco continues to produce with as much passion and frequency as he did back in the day. His releases on Labels Like Tresor, Rotation, Electrix, Kanzleramt, Dj Gigolos, Pure Plastic, Synewave plus many more is just another example of his ongoing pursuit to keep making music and pushing Techno to new boundaries. 

Cisco was born to Portuguese parents on the island of Madeira (Portugal). His family moved to London (1975) when he was five years old, setting the stage for his musical career. While at Paddington College (1986) in West London, he studied sound engineering and secured a job after graduation as an assistant sound engineer at ZOLOU Then later WALL Studios.  

At this period is when he really started to learn about Sound & Production, his 1st main recording sessions as an engineer were rock & “Inde” based bands & the studio owners being in successful rock bands. Matt Dangerfield & John Payne “ASIA” this 1st step was a start in learning about balancing & mixing down the rock way, which had a lot of intense & Raw energy especially on drums & Guitars.. 

Other bands Cisco did sessions for: P.I.L. (John Lydon - sex pistols) – Robert Plant (Led Zeppelin) – That petrol emotion. Then Later Pop, Dance, Soul & reggae groups like: Wild Bunch (Nelly hopper & Massive Attack) – Marco Pirroni (Adam & the ants) - Maxi Priest – Sly Dunbar (Sly & Robbie) – Loose Ends – Cheryl Lynn… 

1987 Cisco began going to clubs and learning about this new thing called Acid House, which was spreading like crazy throughout London’s underground scene, culminating in the famous “Summer of Love” in 1988, the genre’s golden period. 

Around this time, a record label called, Jack Trax, “One of the 1st to release Acid House, House & techno in UK” moved in next door and began using the same studio for recording sessions, with Cisco as the engineer working with Fingers Inc, Adonis, Marshall Jefferson & Derrick May. Cisco released his first record in 1988 on Ferrari records (R&S records) Then later “Cisco Ferreira” EP on Fragile. 

His first big break came in 1994, when he and fellow Londonite Colin McBean (a.k.a. Mr. G) were brought on by Internal Records to help co-produce a group called Salt Tank. A record contract with Internal/FFRR soon followed, committing The Advent to 12 EP’s and 3 albums.

Today, The Advent goes on just as Cisco Ferreira. While he has had a long history with tons of accomplishments to hang his hat on, he continues to make history. The Advent is fulfilling Cisco’s vision as much as ever. He is busy touring as both a DJ and a live performer, producing for numerous labels, and running his own Techno imprint, Kombination Research. 

As Cisco moves forward, striving to fulfill the ambitious goals he has set one can look back at his storied past and see how he has come full circle… The Saga continues.
