From the original liner notes for  Funky Highlife - "C.K.,  the man who undoubtedly instilled enthusiasm in the Ghanaian music scene and dominated it for almost four years in the early Seventies with the Title 'Osode Hene' can be classified as a Musician Philosopher. He rejuvenated the Osode, a Ghanaian Traditional Recreational Dance, modernised it, and gave it a good place in the pop idiom of the country. Charles Kofi Amankwaa Mann was the saviour when Highlife music became stale. He worked conscientiously towards this and eventually had a break through, C.K.,  the Methuselah of Ghanaian modern pop has hit the Jack Pot again with perhaps his greatest achievement – the Highlife funk – a clear attempt at internationalising our music. Credit should go to the Learned Musician Guitarist Ebo Taylor for giving a hand in the arrangements.
