Artist Statement – Omid Saidi:
I am Omid Saidi, a musician from Bushehr, a city in southern Iran. Khargian Gazelle is my first official solo album as a composer and vocalist. Before this, I released the album In the Oil Fields with the group Otagh.
This album intertwines elements of southern Iranian folk music with electronic textures, forming a new space to revisit the natural world of Iran’s south—from plains and rivers to palm groves and the Persian Gulf.
Yet, nature is not merely a subject here. It is a vessel—one through which protest, longing, and endurance are voiced in a world that is constantly changing.
Kharg is an oil-rich island in southern Iran, known for its unique environment. It is also marked by the forced presence of gazelles that were relocated there, gradually reshaping the island’s natural landscape.

اجرای جَز ایرانی از ترانه‌ی ماندگار بابا کرم — ساخته‌ی فتح‌الله ریاحی و برای نخستین بار با صدای حسین همدانیان در
 دههٔ ۱۳۲۰ اجرا شد.
این رقص و ترانه از مهم‌ترین نمونه‌های موسیقی و فرهنگ کوچه‌بازاری و تخته‌حوضی ایران است؛ با ریتمی شانه‌ای و پرشور که تنها توسط مردان اجرا می‌شد.

🎷 در این نسخه، ترانه‌ی بابا کرم در فضای جَز بازآفرینی شده است؛ ترکیبی از پیانو، ساکسیفون، کنترباس و درام فضایی نوستالژیک و متفاوت می‌سازد.

A Persian jazz reinterpretation of the iconic Iranian song Baba Karam, composed by Fathollah Riahi and first performed by Hossein Hamdaniyan in the 1940s.
This arrangement blends piano, saxophone, upright bass, and brushed drums to create a nostalgic, smoky jazz atmosphere while honoring its folkloric, street-performance roots.

آهنگ اصلی این اثر ساختهٔ محمدرضا علیقلی، آهنگساز برجستهٔ ایرانی است. موسیقی فیلم کلاه‌قرمزی و پسرخاله (۱۳۷۳) به کارگردانی ایرج طهماسب و با صداپیشگی ماندگار حمید جبلی، یکی از ماندگارترین آثار تاریخ سینمای ایران به شمار می‌آید.

In this jazz reinterpretation, the nostalgic music of Kolah Ghermezi va Pesar Khaleh is reimagined with Persian rhythms and a jazz ensemble blending Iranian nostalgia with a smoky, cinematic jazz atmosphere.

آقای حکایتی یکی از محبوب‌ترین برنامه‌های کودک دهه ۶۰ و ۷۰ خورشیدی بود که با اجرای بهرام شاه‌محمدلو و نویسندگی چهره‌هایی چون ایرج طهماسب و راضیه برومند از تلویزیون ایران پخش می‌شد. موسیقی ماندگار این برنامه ساخته‌ی بهرام دهقانیار است.
