First up in our 'City of Colours Mixtape Series' we have one of the eight big cats that will be putting on shows for us all at this years festival. These guys have been at the forefront of the Midlands Underground music scene, pushing home grown talent here in Birmingham since 2013 and we are extremely excited to have them on board for City of Colours - Street Art Festival 2016. 

Listening Sessions' is at the heart of Birmingham’s underground electronic music scene, Showcasing the best home-grown music Birmingham has to offer, Listening Sessions is a hotbed for the second city's underground talent. Up and coming producers showcase their latest projects to an audience of like-minded artists, DJs, label bosses and anyone with their finger on the pulse of the local music scene. The set had a lot energy and I got good feedback so I thought I would record it on my decks at home.  When I was asked to do this exclusive mixtape for City of Colours, this mix felt like the perfect thing for it"

Dub Doktah - City of Colours Street Art Festival 2016 Promo Mix

Welcome to the City of Colours "Mixtape Series" with exclusive mixes from some of the big cats that will be giving you a show or two on June 18th @ City of Colours - Street Art Festival.

City of Colours Street Art Festival is one of the UK's largest celebrations of graffiti, street art and urban culture, and we are returning to the streets of Digbeth on 18th June 2016. This multi-cultural, award-winning event, brings together communities from across the city and wider, transforming the area into one of the world's largest outdoor art galleries, and what's more it's FREE!

We have invited over 120 street artists to join us to paint, draw and exhibit their work on as many walls and other canvases as we can find! The event will be a platform for promoting emerging talent alongside more established artists.

An event for all the family, the festival will be spread over 15 venues, with ten music stages, a large range of exciting performances and participatory activities, huge market hall and a range of tasty street food.  Everyone will have the chance to get involved.
  
•We will be bringing you ten music stages, hosted by some of Birmingham’s biggest promoters. There will be a diverse range of DJ's and bands featuring live hip-hop, reggae, dub, jungle to jazz, funk, soul, drum n bass and much more
•There will be a huge range of exciting performances from beat-boxers, b-boys and spoken word artists to rap battles and artists painting in live graffiti and illustration battles.
•Cinema screenings, workshops in graffiti art, break-dance, DJing, spoken word, retro gaming, screen-printing, and our huge doodle wall will be available throughout the weekend for everyone to get involved in.


•The market hall will be returning with local independents selling their creations, and our huge affordable art sale will ensure you can take a piece of City of Colours 2016 home with you.


 

The festival will reflect the vibrancy of its people and its places, bringing together different communities, family and friends of all ages to enjoy the electric atmosphere that is City of Colours!
