Wide Angle Recordings' first release of 2012 comes from the talented and promising French producer, Teho. For the young producer's debut on the label, Teho presents two tracks that showcase his unique style and flare for writing catchy, energetic, melodic dance music.

The title track 'You' starts the release off with a squelching melody and bumping baseline. The light and intricate percussive elements help to create a fun and energetic atmosphere that carries throughout the track - especially during the track's massive breakdown. The EP's "b-side" Penguins carries as much weight as the title track, with an undeniable groove and hands-in-the-air driving, uplifting synth work. Teho's Penguins is prime dancefloor material.

For the first remix Wide Angle Recordings welcomes newcomer Tran, who is a familiar face alongside Teho on France's unique Inlab Recordings. Tran turns You into a deep, hypnotizing trip that perfectly contrasts and complements the original. Wide Angle Recordings' veteran Travis MacDonald, better known as Simple Pleasures, closes off the EP with a remix of You that is primed for the club. The low end work and beefed up synths create a massive sound that will pump in any small or large system.

It's hard not to mention Strange Town Recordings or Alex O'Rion in any conversation about the state of modern progressive house. So it seems fitting that for the label's milestone 50th release, both names are side by side.

Over the past few years, Alex O'rion has emerged as one of the hottest progressive house producers in the world, with releases on Sudbeat, Replug, Hope, and a myriad of other top labels. For his debut on Montreal's Strange Town Recordings, Alex adds his signature touch to Torsten Fassbender's evocative "Echion". Working around the melody of the original, Alex crafts an atmospheric remake that effortlessly builds towards its peak. Rich textures and impressively light percussive elements sit balanced with stabs and a chunky bass line. The result is another progressive bomb from Alex O'Rion and a statement piece for Strange Town Recordings 50th release.
