There is more grief and more clinging to Jesus in this track than I think is likely to come across to most listeners. God is good—all the time.

I wrote this for my sister, Leslie, and my new brother-in-law, Malcolm. It played during the processional at their wedding in Cape Town, South Africa.

The piano, as always, is influenced by Dario Marianelli's radiant Pride & Prejudice score. The synths, drums, and effects highlight Leslie and Malcolm's shared love for adventure and drive to create truly epic stories, as does the choice of a rising chord progression. For any other couple, I think the climax would sound over-scored, but Leslie and Malcolm are both sort of larger-than-life, and so it was fitting in the moment.

The choice of drums was a very broad nod to Leslie and Malcolm's respective heritages, aiming for ambiguous-sounding skinned drums that could sound Asian or African to different listeners.

The sound palette is quite constrained, because I was travelling and only had a few plugins with me on my laptop. I think the constraints actually helped me avoid writer's block—highly recommend constraints, if you can get them.

As I wrote, I considered the exuberance and steadiness I feel marks Leslie and Malcolm at this stage in their life together. I think I’ve captured only a tiny fraction of it.

This was for a Synthesis midterm. Everything was made from one vocal stem! Like actually everything in this track. Which is why some of the bits sound ridiculous... haha. It really wasn't the most efficient way to go about it, but I wanted to challenge myself to do it.

I seem to have created a portmanteau between Chris and twist. It's a horrible sounding word and hard to say, so I apologize. Anyway, this was for Reason class. We were supposed to use a vocoder, and I totally did.

The intro to Westside's sermon series Trial & Trust. Mostly just one voice duplicated a bunch of times, but with Tiff on the highest notes.

Jesus came to us humble, but all along, he was the King of kings. This track tries to express some of that in a very short amount of time.

I was initially nervous that this would be too "trap" for a conservative church's Christmas series, but it turns out our pastor loves hip hop and was totally into it. Praise Jesus!
