Such a clever bringing together of your joint talents. Original and chilled. The sax sounds on keyboards always seem to be really authentic. Here it adds a nice touch of jazz.

gorgeous guitar work once again. I like the arrangement as well with the conga/shaker feel.  The lyrics that connect to temporal elements really work well (mystery of the ages hidden in our kiss for example).   Well done Claes! I agree with James the sax sounds so great there! I would have no idea that was a guitar, it sounds really authentic.

As you can probably tell, I have been reading the graphic novel of David Bowie's biography and I've always been into writing spacey sci-fi tripped-out stories.  The Moonglow Dandy continues that trend...

Note about the song: First song written with covid. Bit of a ramble on this, hit record and just ran with it. It was a challenge to try to focus on something a bit more structured. I'm honestly just glad to have been able to get this out. Be well, friends.

Week 4 Prompt: We Win

Trigger Warning & Song Notes: Contains mature themes relating to mental health, suicidal thought, and overcoming alcohol/drug addiction that are inspired by true stories. Second song with covid - well on the mend, and thank you for the well wishes over the last week. Glad I was able to put this one together.

baby girl climbed down the stairs
to meet her daddy at the bottom
it had been a long, hard day
working down at the docks

she saw the lines on his face
were deep and full of sorrow
she said, "we'll try again tomorrow, daddy
maybe then we'll win"

so they pulled out a cool treat and toasted 
under the light of the harvest moon
carrying away with giggles and 
everything they could fit onto their spoons

at the end of the night
daddy said, "baby girl, time to tuck on in"
"and who knows, maybe tomorrow,
maybe tomorrow, we win"

but what daddy couldn't show
he was holding on for dear life
and what baby girl didn't know
she'd become his last lifeline

as her feet climbed up the stairs
he went down to the basement
there on his desk lay the bottle, and the pills,
and the gun with the trigger looking right back at him

and he sat down, buried his head deep within
his beat-up hands, he began to cry
he threw the bottle and threw the pills into the night
and stashed the gun away hoping that it would hide
