On the anniversary of one full year of lockdown livestreams, Back in the Day streamed a final full weekend  of live music, by way of celebration. 

As the world slowly returns to some sort of normality, music is the answer that has seen us through some difficult times......

This is a live recording of my marathon four hour set on the Saturday, very much a "best of" from all the previous streams, and a few more tunes just for good measure!

So, finally, and for one last time...... turn on..... tune in...... drop out........ and dance....... while you can! x

"The years of 1996 and 1997 was a very important, influential and life changing time for me as it was for many others. A more youthful, wide eyed version of me, fully wet behind the ears and in the last year of high school, already equipped with a few years of collecting (and learning to mix) records and all of the mixtapes that I could get my hands on; I put my feet into a ‘proper’ club for the very first time and it was well and truly fucking mind blowing. That club was The Void.”

"Some of the DJs I witnessed on that amazing sound system over the years, most memorable being the likes Roger Sanchez, Sasha, Carl Cox, Pete Tong, Jeremy Healy, Allister Whitehead, Boy George as well as our locals Pete, Kelvin, Danny Taurus, to name a few all made a huge impact on me and lead me straight to Global Groove, Eastern Bloc and any other decent record shop to try and get my hands on that hot promo so I could try to be one of the first to play it at the pubs or clubs I’d managed to get a gig at at the time. I only managed to play a handful of times in the top room of The Void but the experiences and friendships made (that grew even stronger in another certain club on Glass Street) is something I’ll always speak fondly of. I’m looking forward to joining this stellar lineup and celebrating and sharing some of that music from a special era with you in the Phunk Phase."

A live recording form the first Back in the Day daytime party, in not so sunny LA, Stoke-on-Trent, and what a day it was!

I tried to capture some of the sounds of Ibiza in days gone by, and the intro is a nod to DJ Alfredo, the originator of the Balearic Beat, who often played the Pink Panther theme when mixing between different genres in the nightclubs of Ibiza in the 1980's and 90's.

Inspired by the set I played at the 'Paradise Factory PF21 Pre-Party' held at Velvet Central on Central Street in Manchester on Saturday 23rd August 2014.
