I wrote this song at the end of a year-long forest sitting project.  I wanted to thank the forest with a song, but didn't know what to write -- when I went to my spot and asked for guidance, this song flowed in.  It's about remembering that we are a part of nature - not separate.

I Remember

My style is simple, melodically- and lyrically-driven folk.  My voice draws frequent comparisons to Joan Baez and Kate Wolf.  This is a simple, "rough draft" recording of a song that will likely be on my upcoming album in a more polished form

Cowgirl

I wrote this song to describe my journey of opening up to difficult emotions that had been knocking on the door of my psyche for a long time -- and the somewhat counter-intuitive healing associated with letting them in.  I'm joined here on lead guitar and lap steel by Anand Nayak.

Wolves At The Door MIX_steel

The beginning of this song came to me in a dream -- at first I wasn't sure what it was about, but quickly realized it was connected to being bullied as a kid, and how that caused me to bury certain "undesirable" parts of myself.  The song is about the price we pay for suppressing aspects of ourselves, and the healing available in reclamation.  

Ballad of The Exiled

One of the first songs I've recorded for my new album!  I'm joined here by Anand Nayak.  This song is about how I've been inspired by the music of Kate Wolf, and the power of song to help us orient ourselves in the world.
