‘Exos’ marks an anticipated return for Alex Niggemann, following his two 2017 outings, ‘Legacy’ / ‘Fences’ (AEON027) and ‘Serenity’ (AEON031). The releases on the highly respected Berlin based producer’s label, AEON, mirror the DJ sets that he is famed for, focused on conjuring up the spirit of classic and timeless music, whilst always pushing boundaries and moving things forward.

Alex’s first outing in 2018 is a diverse package that displays his customary variety of moods and textures. ‘Exos’ demonstrates Alex’s command of intricate layering techniques, and jacking rhythmic patterns sure to rock the most discerning of floors, building to a satisfying synth laden climax.

‘Array’ by contrast, adheres to a darker and more melancholic mood, building a haunting tension throughout, and driving relentlessly and menacingly forward at all times.

Yotam Avni has been catching many people’s attention with his recent outings on Innervisions and Hotflush. Here the exceptionally talented DJ/Producer provides perfect remix interpretation for ‘Array’: mounted on a deliciously solid groove, Yotam’s arrangement continually teases and surprises, introducing esoteric percussion and sensual synth flourishes to create an atmospheric alternative.

Celebrating it’s 5th anniversary this year, Alex Niggemann’s lovingly curated AEON defined by his ever-careful devotion to perfection, provides a distinctive vision. Claptone is a unique proposition in modern music. In his second artist album ‘Fantast’, the Claptone universe is at its deepest and most vivid. He is the master of his domain and in his most artful offering yet, the assured 13 tracks of 'Fantast' come together to create an album full of varied colours and atmospheric textures.

In music Claptone seeks not to create a world of secrecy, but one of great depth and intrigue. An enigma with a tireless desire for creativity and thirst for new music, Claptone has brought together a diverse group of collaborators such as Bloc Party’s Kele Okereke, Blaenavon, Tender, Jones, Zola Blood, Austra’s Katie Stelmanis, The Boxer Rebellion’s Nathan Nicholson, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Joan as a Policewoman and Matt Simons.  

'Over the last two years it has been a great pleasure to work on this album as a counterpoint to the hectic world of travelling as a DJ. To lose myself when making music, to dive into and create my very own realm of beauty. I admit it's a dreamy, a heartfelt, at times a naive and surely escapist album, but what to do if one - on the quest for his soul - develops a strong desire to go back to his roots, back to nature? The first single 'In The Night' features the vocals of Ben Duffy, which paired with Claptone’s insistent and upbeat production, makes for an exquisitely executed electronic pop gem. It marks an engaging opening snapshot for what will be a milestone in his already glittering career.

'When would I return if not in the night? What would our love look like, if not with you letting me go? Which song will you be humming when thunder and lightning are coming?'

We caught a glimpse of his ambition to produce a body of work in Claptone’s debut artist album 'Charmer' which has scored over 60million streams and counting, but it’s in 'Fantast' that Claptone really delves deeper into the art of songwriting. 

2018 will see another intense year of touring as a DJ with Claptone taking his immersive 'The Masquerade' event experience further, having built momentum over the last 18 months hosting events and stages in Los Angeles, Berlin, Paris, Melbourne, Barcelona and New York and at festivals like Tomorrowland, Melt Festival, Elrow at Amnesia Ibiza, Green Valley in Brazil.

Coming up next in the Audiolith Singles Club-series is a conjunctional joint strictly aiming at the worlds dancefloors – featuring the combined forces of two artist hailing one from Berlin, the other from Hamburg and both renowned far beyond the borders of their hometown for DJ and production efforts alike.

The opener „Sonne, Park und Sterni“ is catered by long-time Audiolith-associate and family member Rampue who has been involved in musical craftmanship ever since. At the controls for Ira Atari's album, collaborational efforts with Egotronic and Plemo, several compilation features and remixes for artists like Conjure One, pandoras.box, Bratze, Supershirt, Kidstreet and others under his belt plus remarkable solo tracks on both volumes of our „Stiff Little Spinners“ series show that this man is driven by force. And so does „Sonne, Park und Sterni“ which is a sweet, melodic trip into the realms of positive TechHouse vibes, serving a seductive leitmotif and thrilling, cut-up vocal wizzardry adding a bit of extra spice to the playful loveliness that is surely influenced by Berlin's vibrant open air rave movement.
