‘Magnetica’ is het eerste studio-album van funky producer en gitarist Quantic Music sinds ‘An Announcement To Answer’ in 2006. De verwachtingen zijn dus hooggespannen. Will Holland (a.k.a. Quantic) heeft overigens niet bepaald stil gezeten in de tussentijd met releases en projecten als ‘The Quantic Soul Orchestra‘, ‘Quantic and his Combo Bárbaro’, ‘Flowering Inferno‘, ‘Quantic & Alice Russell’ en ‘Ondatrópica’.

Magnetica is een versmelting van alles wat op Quantics bordje heeft gelegen, gedurende die productieve jaren. Hij heeft de indrukken van zijn reizen opgezogen en in dit album verwerkt. In de afgelopen zeven jaar, woonde hij in Colombia en werkte hij samen met legio Latijns-Amerikaanse, Afrikaanse en Caribische muzikanten. Die sounds zijn op Magnetica gemixt met Quantics groovy elektronische club sound. Live en op plaat mondt dat al gauw uit in één stomend feest.

Having temporarily expanded into a transatlantic ensemble, Hess Is More is once again back where it started, as Danish artist Mikkel Hess’ solo venture through the borderlands of pop, electronic, jazz, and experimental genres.

With Hess in full control of the process, what has returned to the fore is the personal edge, the subversive lightheartedness that runs so much of his early work.

It’s in this vein he now introduces the single ‘I Love My Life (Again and Again), officially out on December 8th.

“I Love My Life/I Fuck My Wife/Again and Again”

… Hess intones, the words drifting gently above an innocuous little drum machine beat. This is Hess cruising through the age of anxiety without a care in the world, poking at us, at our sublime seriousness. There’s a bit more to it, but we’ll let you figure out the rest.

The track is written, performed, and produced by Hess himself. The drum track is programmed on an old CR8000, and the main riff is played on a Bass VI, a bass/guitar hybrid famously employed by George Harrison. Some joyous Moog synths in the mix as well.

The album is scheduled to come out in April 2024 on Music For Dreams.

Hess Is More has spent recent years immersed in the critically acclaimed theatrical concert slash art installation known as Appolonian Circles, performing here as an ensemble. The project is still active, with the next shows being played at National Sawdust in New York in January 2024.
Hess Is More is also planning a tour coinciding with the release of the album in April 2024.
