When sporadically playing the now ancient theme I made for the (unsurprisingly unfinished) pilot for the Zaunsbauld City Players (Podcast), I came up with this tune that just felt like a perfect outro. It only took 11 or so years 😅

I wake up as I usually do of late: staying in bed and under the blankets for an hour or two before finally getting up. As I do so, a collection of notes begin to rotate in my brain. I pet the cat. I do the morning pee-pee after the ritual face of disgust when catching myself in the mirror. Ugh, fuck that guy and what he's slowly become. Well, mostly. I guess it's not ALL entirely horrid. Not yet at least...

I grab my electric and noodle a bit. It sounds fun, like it's some kind of background theme to some silly schemer's item shop. Not a bad person, but clearly not afraid of taking the advantage when it presents itself. Besides, it's just business, right? 

Anyway, I convince myself that it'd be fun to do a *quick* recording to share with a friend. I grab that asshole MacBook, fire up Garage Band for the drum track, then spend the next 4-to-5 hours FIGHTING with the ass-backwards Mac shit. GOD, I hate these things. Finally fight through settings, tuning the right amount of swing and chill for the drum beat, and finally being forced to download Audacity to trim down the entire session because I couldn't find where Garage Band gave a shit to let people select specific sections for simple export. Seriously, how fucked does a recording application have to be to make Audacity seem simple and sane? Hate. HATE.

Silly Schemer's Theme

I came upon this while digging DEEP through an old iTunes library. It was in .aif format and says it was modified 03/03/2008, which makes zero sense to me. As I'm typing this, I'm swearing it's my buddy Aaron because the strumming pattern, fact that it's a whole idea that doesn't sound like shit, and probably being the only musical recording of mine done in an Apple format. I don't recall messing much with low tunings during that timeframe unless I got shitty about the tension, so the only thing that makes sense is that it happens to have been recorded on my iPod at some point after the battery went completely dead, which would explain the default to 2008 at 5am and being completely alien to me since recordings aren't put with everything else.

I was working on a guitar line and Aaron decides to start singing some total bee-ess about me. So when I hit record he decides he's all shy and doesn't want to repeat it FOR HIS MOM TO HEAR. Well guess what, Aaron!? SHE'S GONNA HEAR IT! (If she hears this (she probs won't))

This is a one-take improv on a right-handed Ibanez S Series 7 string (I'm a lefty). I was troubleshooting/testing my father's recording setup. The guitar was going through some sort of Line 6 Pod XT Live thingy. When I turned it on, the preset was called "Steve Vai", so I thought, "I'll give you Steve Vai!" Hence this stupid thing. Anywhoses, I liked the sound of it.
