The king of Kubbo Records, Spain’s Héctor Díez is back on Clarisse after an appearance on last year’s Clarisse 10 label compilation, going back to back with Gustaff on ‘Tu Si Tu’. Offering three tracks of hip-hop-sampling funky house treating the club like a catwalk, Díez’ skilful ears slips in the vocals perfectly so that the beats can take care of themselves when getting people out of their seats.
 
‘Dream Maker’ will instantly attract fans with its vocal snippets of ‘the city I reside in’ taking it coast to coast and all over, and ‘we are the dream makers’ making you bow down to the DJ booth. The healthy tech-edged bass rumble significantly lets the beats roll and roll to a conclusion until you’re 50 shades of sweating.
 
‘Fuck Love’ fades in the vocals at the optimum moment and will cause a tropical dancefloor swarm with its F-You attitude looking to create a New Classic. The straight-ahead four-fours feature a percussive lick to worm its way into your brain, like a heart rate monitor getting in on the action, tactics that are repeated on ‘Rock Designer’: the vocals this time drape themselves across the dancefloor with a touch more subtlety but no less dominance, as the bump and hustle proving that love can’t turn around plays on.

At the end of last year Souler gave Clarisse three head turning tracks: right on time again for 2025, the Spaniard repeats the prescription with another trio of tantalising funky house cuts, set up for sunshine but just as potent when shadows start stalking you.

Last year Souler stepped through 'The Night'; now it's the turn of a Latin-edged 'Night Walk' - a funk fatale picturing the scene of clubbers squirming around one another when the glitterball fades to black, only guided by a seductive, suggestive bassline swing and ghosting snippets of sure-of-themselves raps. 

With 'Delincuentes' on the loose, Souler scans the dancefloor through night vision goggles and lays down bongos n bass, vocals hinting at tricks and treats and small but powerful chord flourishes. Add the sense of someone or something breathing down your neck and this has plenty of extended Halloween alchemy running through its veins.

It’s all about the metronome of tribal drums on this one that bounce all over the track like a Balearic bungee jump, with the added percussion and image of Agraz drumming along with anything he can get his hands on. Builds and breakdowns culminate in mass drum circles noisily coming together, and the classic understanding of not needing to go overboard on groove to make everything happen, means that the party vibes take care of themselves from beat one.

A request for all the kicks, snares, hi-hats and rim shots to get wicked from Italy's Mattia Caso. The Momento Lab affiliate, a DJ since his early teens, comes to Clarisse with that special dancefloor sauce that bangs from Milan to the moon and back. Caso also has a happy habit of making the most desirable of dancefloor demands, after 2024's 'Bassline Up'.

Here’s the classic Clarisse sound, kind of retro, but subtly, knowledgably so. The stealthy ‘Get The Drummer’ is all drum machines plotting and scheming with loads of percussive fills and ticks firing in all directions. Bass is programmed to jack back to the 80s, and rap lyrics talk in code as Caso throws it back onto modern dancefloors. This one has the substance to go with the style, the muscle for the minimalism, and can nonchalantly kick down speakers.

‘80s Boys’ really goes to town on the drum pads, flexing the hardware on another beefed up retro-themed groove, like Caso has fired up his favourite old skool equipment and given it a 2025 turbo tuning. Glowing synth work comes into play anticipating the ducking of discotheque strobes from back when, but it’s all about the punch of the beats that keep Caso rolling and pumping for seven minutes of dancefloor pressure.

Put up the bunting and bring out the birthday cake, Clarisse has hit 50 and is marking the occasion in true style with an unflinching piece of hearty tribal house that the label has nailed to its mast time after time. Leading the labels half-century celebrations is Dario D'Attis, the Italian also known as The Funk Ensemble who has repped Switzerlands Purple Tracks/Purple Music, as well as A-grade labels Hive and Nervous in a career on wax that stretches back before the Millennium.

Here with one of Clarisses leading vibe stylists in Yvan Genkins, who has done much to help Clarisse tot up its milestone, Afro Call chugs like a non-stop cross-country train with an infinite tank of gas, full of thirsty clubbers ready for fiesta. Full of pots and pans percussion taking it to the streets, the duo provide an authentic open air feel bound to create one long human traffic jam, its pistons greased with the vocal echoes of classic chanters such as the Gypsymens Babarabatiri.

Secondcity is Rowan Harrington, who comes to the party with Chicago in his blood, an Ibizan residency at Sankeys Tribal Sessions to his name, and already knowing a thing or two about the Clarisse brand from remixing label boss Mendo's Magic this year. Not to mention a rework of Carl Cox, collaborating with chart-topper Route94 and the small matter of his goodtime piano groover I Wanna Feel blowing away 2014.

His remix of Afro Call manages to be both deep and flexible, making splashes with a bassline both flowing and muddy. Fast-paced yet always in control as if hes skimming through a foam party, he carries over the originals eyes-on-the-prize vibe and turns the pattering of skins throughout into a bubbly lather, roaring into a finale that ups the Samba-tinted shimmying in a jiffy.

Since 2013, the Clarisse Nights label showcase has had all of Europe’s top clubs upholding Mendo's philosophy: "I just want people to have a good time with my music”.
