Just in case any of those people who've known me a very long time think that I am getting soft . . . Here's a little something to stir the pot with some help from my spiritual mentor Bill. Version 1 because that is just my first pass at this, I haven't run it past the other guys yet.

I see no conflict between this with anything else that I've posted in the last year.

This is the direction things are going in. I've decided to largely dispense with vocals in the traditional sense. Here is the radio-friendly version recorded live on August 15, 2018.

It occurs to me that listeners might need some context:

This isn't like any music that you've ever heard before. This is music that doesn't tell a story, that doesn't go anywhere, it just goes on into an infinite distance. This is music that asks you to surrender completely and to just listen. Just listening isn't as easy as you might think. It is hard to shut out the noise of thought, much less the noise of the outside world.

I'm interested in creating vast dreamlike abstract sonic landscapes. built of complex and constantly changing random melodies and rhythms. developing gradually over time and which invite the listener to float along on a meandering ocean of sound with no clearly defined beginning or end, with no other purpose than the random creation of beauty.

Here's my piece "One: 7-1-2018". It is just me on guitar and effects and was recorded live in my home studio in one take on July 1, 2018.

One : 7-1-2018

This is a solo piece created by piecing together four very simple guitar solo layers (one both straight and also reversed), a single drone guitar loop, some randomized found midi percussion, and a midi fretless bass, all played by me. This was put together over about a week, on and off. For lack of a better title, I called it simply Sailing, because it reminds me of sailing at night, one of my very favorite things to do.

This is the single mix (sic) version of the original recorded performance of Creating to Destroy ll. Clearly this is more succinct. CTD ll is coming from a completely different place than the original Creating to Destroy which was a twisted rock song. Not so this and its longer brother.

This is another in my series of pieces influenced by the work and ideas of writer William S. Burroughs. It is very simple: a single guitar loop, a second guitar track, some percussion, a bit of midi bass, and, of course, always enjoyable Bill Burroughs on vocals. This was recorded in my home studio on 4-18-2020 (while practicing social distancing) with small bits added around the edges and mixed over then following two days. This is the second rough mix, but initially I like it.

Curse Go Back (Rough Mix #2 4 - 19 - 2020)

I've decided to be a bit more productive with my time during these plague times. Here is the first rough mix of another in my continuing series of pieces based upon the work of William Burroughs. It was recorded and mixed over the past two days. Let me know what you think.

I think this is going to be the title track to an album that I am putting together. I'm just debating how long it should be, the rough mix is nearly 90 minutes now. Maybe I'll drop one of the longer tracks, maybe not. What do you think?
