Back in 2010, our event Summer Sounds not only kicked off a whole new chapter in my life, but it was actually the launchpad for our company.

Eggworm. On our 15 year anniversary, this set marked the beginning of my journey into a new way of mixing music. Inspired by the transformations of 2020. I found myself listening and playing music differently, especially after stepping back from the usual DJ scene due to burnout a few years prior. Instead of the usual 4/4 beat I was used to playing at clubs and festivals, I started exploring the various genres of music I have been listening to for years - mixing sounds in ways I hadn't tried before.

This particular mix was crafted to bridge the gap between Whisky Jack’s acoustic vibes and Maika Loubté’s ambient, powerful melodies at Summer Sounds. I wanted to keep the flow lively and unpredictable, flipping through genres without just building up the tempo. It was about throwing curveballs with purpose, learning something new with each transition.

For everyone who grooved with me at the Mint Bar in Tokyo, thank you for moving to the beat and jamming with me. And for those tuning in now, I hope you find as much joy in listening to this mix as I did in creating it.
It's a little piece of what Summer Sounds has been all about since its inception.

2010年に「サマーサウンズ」を始めたとき、それは私の人生に新しい章を開くだけでなく、エッグワームという会社の出発点にもなりました。このセットが、私にとって新しい音楽ミックスの始まりとなりました。2020年の変化に影響を受けて、音楽の聴き方や演奏の仕方が変わり、DJシーンから少し離れたことで、クラブやフェスで慣れ親しんだ4/4ビート以外の音楽ジャンルを改めて探求する機会を得ました。そして、今までにない形でミックスすることに挑戦し始めたのです。

このミックスは、「サマーサウンズ」でのWhisky Jackのアコースティックな雰囲気と、Maika Loubtéのアンビエントで力強いメロディーをつなげるために作りました。テンポをただ上げるのではなく、ジャンルを行き来しながら、予測できない流れを作りたかったんです。各トランジションで何か新しい発見があるように、意図を持ってミックスしました。

東京のMint Barで一緒に楽しんでくれた皆さん、本当にありがとうございました。一緒にリズムに乗って楽しんでくれて、とても嬉しかったです。そして、今このミックスを聴いてくれている方々にも、私がこれを作る過程で感じた楽しさを、少しでも共有してもらえたら嬉しいです。

これが、サマーサウンズが誕生してからずっと大切にしてきたものの一部です。
