Been busy remaking the studio around a new mixer, by chance was reviewing my master SD and found this.

19082024 Scorching Drone

I'm often looking for ways of producing drones that wouldn't be slave to beat. Human drones, but not just a 4-bar sample of it, looped.
I'm not yet making music again, but as a start I made myself a wind wand (drone) and tried recording it with different mic placing. You're free to make this one into a new song. CC0 applies here, you don't even need to mention me.
I took a design from youtube, and everything I could find at home to DIY one. The most difficult part was to find a long rubber strap (I ended up knotting 2 together). Wood, bamboo, rubber, plastic handle.
You could record that with a ribbon mic (in mono) for a perfect sound. Instead I used two (close)  condenser mics to get the sound of the metal washers, and accentuate the 'turning' feel.

This drone is for download.

I live alone in a remote cabin and receive few visits. There's no lock on the door, and no bell. But several chimes and hanging objects, so the best music to wake me up would be the sound of someone manifesting outside. Nothing composed, just played then (no visit today, I had to go outside myself). Recorded direct-to-sampler in mono, slowly added some Space-D while mastering, for your ears only.

Fairies are only there for those who believe, and I'm not a believer. I need to use artifacts to perceive them. So, if you want to let go on the dreamy side, speakers are good, not too loud. Then if you want to hear the fairies you might need headphones.

Treize (Fairy Mix)

Oh Man! My drone is like a tumultuous river and you can't see no more "slowly emerging" than a head here or a leg there, until the team roughly lands on the shore, and of course they're not much talkitive after such a ride.
I turned my sequencer into an 8-track MIDI looper and started with a precise idea in mind. As time flies, I had a tool ready and no music recorded -I was waiting for Disquiet to give it a more precise destination. Thursday night disquiet was yet very quiet, so my unprecise view had time to develop, and  when my favorite drug arrived in the mail next day, I just sat  there listening to what I had, making plans for the future. 
As I had been working on what was to become the second part, I wanted to extract the drone from it. I chosed the most remarkable sound (two high marimba notes) and worked from there. The rest is history.

The Agnostic Drone - Disquiet 0240

Can you imagine someone (with knowledge and expensive equipment) would take the time to record a crashing beer bottle (and thus enough of them)? Each time I look for something as specific as this, freesound.org is my heaven, and these guys/ladies my heroes.
Unfortunately I was low and dry, so I didn't care, and later couldn' find back the author of this sound. 
Others you couldn't miss are:

Some pure sine (forgot to write the reference again -from IUT Paris 8) just before the drums will tell you how to set the volume: if it doesn't hurt a little bit, I suggest you put it louder to fully enjoy this song.

Sunday On Tuesday

As in the title.
Live impro (mono synth) on my new hardware machine: 4 D-Two's, here with 4 sec delay, reduced to stereo. Not for headphones actually.
While I was not trying to do that, I came very close to what I was playing in '78-79 with an electrified violin, two 4-Trk tape recorders and four speakers. Time does fly, but some things stay with you.
